The Blica Bulletin – Issue 19 – "Rennes beat Blicas in captivating finale"
Written By Herouk87
St Michael – The matchup of teams who narrowly missed the playoffs occurred today as 9th place Rennes Corsairs from alpha took on the 11th place St Michael Blicas at Mile High Blica. The Blicas had won their previous three games so spirits were high that a repeat performance could warrant a 100% offseason record.
Rennes started the game the stronger team as Roland Taverner passed on 12 consecutive plays and gave his team the lead after hitting saitoh kazuki from 4 yards for the TD. St Michael was not to be outdone though and strung together their own double digit play drive which ended in a 35 yard Gazoo Gramatica FG. Gramatica added another FG at the beginning of the second quarter and all the impetus seemed to be with the offenses as they were both driving easily against the opposition.
Rennes have been known to have a very dynamic offense and that was proved once again today as they showed their big play ability. Taverner threw a ball to a wide open Antonio. Gates who ran away from Afro Samuraii after a great Andy white Junior’s block. The Corsairs would turn the screw once again before the half as an INT by Enzo Ferrari on an Eric MartinsQB throw that went through Bobby Blackk’s hands led to a Wol Wyv FG. An exciting game so far with the Rennes Corsairs taking a 17-6 lead in at the break.
The defences took control after the half as the 3rd quarter started with 3 three and outs. This pattern was ceased when Taverner started to hit his WR’s again, leading his team into FG position. Wyv gladly added on 3 points to his teams tally and stretched Rennes’ lead to 14 points. The Blicas struck back with a Gramatica FG only for Jordan Né to get into the end zone on Rennes next drive to stretch that lead again. Soon the lead was 21 after a master vader pass was intercepted by Abu'l Fadl and Wyv got another FG. When MartinsQB hit T E in the fourth it was merely a consolation as Rennes ran out easy winners, 33-16.
