Just looking ahead now that my team is out of the playoffs. These are the teams that will be joining A#1 and A#2 next season (one from each conference will join our league, not sure which):

Alpha
Boston Punks - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=647
Malta Ospreys - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=298

Zeta
Frankfort Universe - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1627
Cedar Creek Wildcats - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1086

The Ospreys are a team that is going to get relegated for a second time, never winning a game in their existence. The other three teams appear able to compete in our league from day 1.

I think right now you have to look at whoever loses the conference final matchups to be the teams to beat next season.

I've been thinking about what if we get promoted and just realized that we came from a capped league and would be in a league that was uncapped this season. We may not move up, but if we pull off the upset of the season and were, we'd be in big trouble next season. All the playoff teams are level 20-22 top to bottom and we have 0 in that range. The chemistry hit to recruit will be horrible. I hope Bort does something about this.

I would say that the Punks and Universe would be teams to beat as well. They have pretty strong starting rosters as far as levels go and assuming that a bunch of guys don't bail out. If I were those guys, I would be pumped about moving down.

Might not be as bad as you think. If you players boost it will at least put you in the same general area. Once you are in your 20's it becomes less and less about levels and more and more about builds.

Yeah, but most of our team is level 12-16. We have a maybe 6-8 guys higher than that. Also, you have to account for the fact that the playoff teams are all 20-22 across the board. They will all try to improve and could end up starting the season at 22-24 without even boosting. Imagine a team of fully boosted level 22 players going against a team of level 27 guys after boosts. Yikes.

Yeah, I hear ya. i still believe that the difference between levels becomes lesser and lesser the higher level your players. Granted, the other team has an advantage but that gap will close as the lower level team will level faster, but that may only be a level or 2 over the season if even that much.

I agreee this is probabyl somethnig not well thought out by Bort when he put this in place.

Heck, I am a fan of keeping the lvl 13 cap for signing. It would really force people to build teams rather than buy them.

It becomes more about player builds after 20 than about what level they are. Of course with all the 'build guides' out there everyone is pretty much building from the same cookie cutter.

We'll figure it out if that happens, but it honestly seems like a big disadvantage. Also, you won't be catching up to the other guys as fast as you think. There is a floor to how low your xp drops. At level 24 daily you get 25, sames as level 28, 30, 100, etc. That means you won't be catching up.

Builds are very important, but points help. 4 levels represent an extra 20 points. That is a lot. Dump 20 into your strongest category. Wow.

Don't forget that game XP also decreases with levels. I'm unsure if that has a floor, I suppose it would have to, but I haven't seen one yet.

I had a Guard playing for the Universe last season, and part way into this season. I think that there are about 5 or 6 teams currently in Zeta that could beat them! They are dropping a league for a reason!

I assume it stops at 24 just like the training xp, but I don't know for sure.

I put these comparisons together just to see how we currently stack-up.

Here's how the Fire compares against the 14th team in the next league.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=3194&team2=604

Here is how we would compare to the fifth seed in the playoffs:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=3194&team2=634

Here is how we would compare against the second seed:

Obviously none of this matters if we lose. I'm starting to think this level cap actually hurt the conference champs. It shouldn't hurt the Stallions too much though. They are beasts!

We are almost even acrossed the board with the Stallions now that just about everyone has boosted. I think whoever comes out of both leagues will do just fine. I don't think being .500 and an outside shot at the playoffs would be out of the question.

No question the boost only helped keep things even for new owners. I'm sure it was designed to 'break in' new owners rather than really prevent high level players into the teams. And you're right, with a 3 season head start with a lot of the builds only 1 league up whoever goes up is not going to do well... just speculation of course, but it doesn't look great. Unless they can make some additional trades or sacrifice their own player builds to boost early on just to remain competitive throughout the season. Then to be left behind in the play offs when the rest of them boost... vicious circle.

If we made it, I would make sure we did fine, but there would be a lot of sacrifices I don't want to have to make and I don't think is right to ask a team to do, just to try and win in their second season too.
