I'm trying to bring guys to the Steel-Heads and it's like puling teeth. I have no clue what these people want.

This is the part I hate about offseason.

I hate recruiting

I've managed to line up a lvl 24 guard, a lvl 21 rcvr, a lvl 20 DE, and another guard for next season - but they are all players I know - the 24 guard is my own, the rcvd is our OC's buddy, the DE is our current starting DE's player (she's going to back herself up), and the other guard is a buddy of our starting DE.

I've almost given up on the Players looking for teams forums.

I hear you. This blows. I guess we needed to win the championship for them to join our team?!?

I have no idea what they are looking for. I did some recruiting for my QB's team 2 years ago when it got started and had some luck, but not much. When I do try to recruit someone I end up in the final batch but can never seal the deal...

The FA market is so bad, that more and more teams are going to some sort of "Syndicate" operation where many teams are all interlinked to each other in some way, usually through GM duties since multiple team ownership isn't allowed anymore. Out of this syndicate, the group operates as a unit to both develop talent and create a liquid market to move players to the teams that are in a running for a championship.

I had no problem finding good players the first season, but the day they doubled the amount of teams in this game, that FA market became the Sahara Desert. So, I went the old fashioned route of just networking and meeting other owners in here. The larger you make your network of owners, the easier it is to fill positions, because you can hit that network with a "Hey...I need a G for next season" and let those contacts fill your needs. Going into the FA forums...we rarely touch them anymore. I'd rather use my contacts now. I don't really like getting talent from unknown sources. I never pass up an opportunity to meet and share with another owner in here.

This is exactly how I operate and only way I have any success anymore.

Not to mention that the players you see in the FA pool never seem to be they type of human owners I want and it always seems to be the same guys every season (they hop to a new team every year)

It is very hard to sign players. I must have offered at least 10 different contracts and not one of them signed. I tell them we'll pay for equipment yadda yadda and still they decline no matter what kind of persuading I do.

Hey, the Chicago Grizzlies still have a lot of players that need teams, talk to them, ANYTHING is better than the *shivvers with hate* cincinnati slaugter. (BOOO!!!)

Fortunately our team only needs to sign maybe 3 players this off-season and I guess I'm lucky in that I've had pretty good luck attracting interest for those 3 spots.

We only stand to lose about 3 players right now and I'm working on bringing in replacements from another team who's owner I am very familiar with like CZ mentioned. I try to stay as far away from the FA market as I can, which is why there are 4 of us that own about 80+% of the current players on our team. The rest have been good friends or other people we hooked up with in season 1. IMO that's the only way to go because a) you can't rely on what type of player you're getting and b) you can't always trust the agent/owner to follow your plan and do the right thing once he's signed.

Unfortunately that means we don't normally bring in higher level players in the offseason like some of you guys, so we just have to keep building up the ones we have and hope player build and game planning can eventually get us over the hump.

Everytime I look at the Players looking for Teams forum, I feel dirty.

Horns are going to be intact for next season, other than swapping out a WR and potentially shooting Magnificent Wang in the head for failing to live up to his name.

We've actually had some great success about bringing in some of guy's lower level players or buddies' players and developing them.

Did you get my trade offer for Sticky? If natty light isn't good enough, I can up it to Milwaukee's Best, maybe even PBR.
