I have a guard with the following attributes:

Strength: 60.38 Blocking: 57.38
Speed: 49.42 Tackling: 15.38
Agility: 38.54 Throwing: 10
Jumping: 7 Catching: 9
Stamina: 32.67 Carrying: 8
Vision: 34.2 Kicking: 10
Confidence: 26.97 Punting: 9

He doesn't seem to pull and block for outside runs. What should I work on? I have pass and run block both at 3 for SA, but that's it. Do I need more SAs, more vision? Agility?

Your two tackles McBeast and Traven are both LOT. LOTs never pull at this point, only the right one does. Advanced tactics may change this.

Edit to correct:
My apologies, I was working fast and didn't think things through completely, I shouldn't have been looking at your OTs, you were asking about a pulling guard. I know it is guards, I just was typing fast as I had to get up from the comp.

He doesn't try to pull, or he doesn't succeed? Because from what I can tell, the guard attempting to pull has nothing to do with his attributes, but rather the team's tactics. But if he's not getting ahead of the back, I'd work on agility, and if he's just not picking up blocks, people like to blame that on vision.

I'm curious, those are pretty high agi/spd numbers, it would make me sad if a guard with those stats Still couldn't pull successfully.

from your game against San Diego
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=11649842 looked good
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=11650201 cb from the outside you couldn't do anything about
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=11651217 didn't work
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=11653451 didn't work

It looked like the plays you couldn't get out ahead of the running back you got clipped by your ROT getting pushed backwards. Not sure if there is anything that can be done about it. From the first two plays I'd say you are heading in the right direction.

If you really want to perfect this play I'd try to softcap agility and vision.

I have been trying this with my guard with poor results... but I always knew it would take a while... like Daefaroth said, I am hopefully going to see results once I get agility and vision to the soft cap.

I think alot has to do we your O-Line buddy's (ROT & C), as it would work better if those two can easily take care of business and let your G break free

Thanks for the analysis. I hadn't thought of it being the rest of the line. Since I'm playing second string, it's probably the second string ROT who is having trouble with the LDE that's causing some of the problem. I'll work on Agility and Vision though.

It is partly the reason I got my ROT to play on the same team as my RG... to make sure they are on the same page

Any update on this? I noticed a lot of success with the pulling guard in only a few games this season so far, and none of the guards I've seen pull it off had anywhere near the spd/agility that you had.

Is it just me? Has anyone else noticed that a pulling guard actually seems to do something on some plays now?

Yeah the changes to game engine have definately improved the pulling guards. Now if the HB would just catch up so I'm not waiting on him.

Yes, they pull and block. But the HB still runs right at the CB on the sideline like an idiot and won't turn upfield.

hahaha, I was just noticing this with my teammates earlier today and wondering if it was a vision problem, but our starting hb has > 45 vision.

Support is blaming it on vision and agility, but our HB has around 48 vision and 45 agility, so that makes no sense. It's got to be pathfinding.

I'm running an experiment looking at speed, agility, and vision for pulling guards. kcfdx was nice enough to lend me his team for the two scrimmage games in order to run nothing but outside sweeps. Here's game one:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=83177
(The team to watch is Tibet)

I'll have a more complete write-up after the second game, but so far looks like agility is most important, then vision, then speed.
