There's a damn good chance that your kicker booted it on us today. Multiple 60+ yard field goals. I want you tested for steroids immediately.

Then it turns into Arena football... no punts, just field goal attempts from anywhere when you don't get a first down.

It's definitely got to be hard to balance kickers along the leveling curve, so it makes sense that adjustments are going to have to be made over time. When you're talking about positions other than kicker or punter, you can just balance the offensive players against their defensive counterparts, so the level of competition can stay relatively even as the offenses and defenses level up evenly. With kickers, though (and to a more indirect degree, punters), they have to be either a) good from the beginning, and amazing at the end (which makes it a somewhat broken sim at the end), b) terrible at the beginning, and good at the end (which makes it a somewhat broken sim at the beginning), or c) good pretty much throughout (which makes them never really change, and kind of eliminates the point of leveling up).

I think they should probably ease back on the advantage strength gives a kicker unless its a very high number like 80+.

First start by limiting the SA "Automatic" to a maximum distance, how about 30-35 yards?

Then take the close & late bonuses that Calm Nerves gives out & create a new spot behind it called Clutch that has no other value outside of close & late kicking moments. Calm Nerves would basically only be a boost to accuracy.

I think both skill trees should have diminished effects as well that way a kicker can still become good at a decent level, but becoming special takes alot more than it does now. I think eventually adding an onside kick SA in the middle would be nice too.

Automatic-->Big Boot

Calm Nerves-->Clutch

I suppose splitting the tree isn't as big a deal as breaking up what the SA's do into more smaller portions.

so perhaps,

Automatic-->Calm Nerves-->?Onside Kicks?-->Big Boot-->Clutch
