Man oh man, do we have some games this week.

The Houston Orangebloods face off with the Dallas Horns.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=762&team2=774

This game features the leagues lone undefeated against the silent assasins. The OBs were expected to challenge for the title. The Horns were a general afterthought. Expected to be a playoff team but not challenge for the title all the Horns have done is improve the team and beat every one they were suposed to, and some they weren't.

Houston defeated the 8th seed Austin squad 26-0 shutting down the much heralded Jimmy Turner in the process. Turner was held to 13 yards on one catch. The victory was a total team effort. Houston had a 97-54 advantage in total offenseiv plays and out gained the Longhorns 468-74.5 total yards. The run game was the top performer in the playoffs with 240 yards coming on the ground. While the pass offense was also tope in the West with 228. The offense left some points on the field though, settling for 4 FG on 6 attempts. While the offense was impressive, they bogged down in the redzone several times. The Teams standout performer for game one of the playoffs was Chris Whaley, gaining a playoff high 165.5yds at 5.5 a clip and a rushing TD. The Defense forced three and outs all game long, putting pressure on the QB and swatting every pass in sight to the ground. Highly touted Gunslinger Chet Mclawson was held to a paultry 59yds passing on 9 of 31attempts. That is 39%passing for those of you scoring at home. Chet was also sacked 4 times and hurried uncountable times throughout the game. Houston limited Austins ground game to 15.5yds on 23 attempts for a staggering .7yds a carry.

Dallas squared off with the Omaha Mavericks, winning 25-0. The performance was a sound thumping of a very decent squad. Dallas secured victory with a swarming defense and a punishing ground attack. The defense only allowed 125.5 total yds against. On a 100 yd field, thats is damn impressive. The offense produced a very nice 419 yards with 245 coming on the ground. The games outstanding performer on offense has to be the HBs Johnson and Flash, they combined for 219.5yds and a touchdown.

The defense did not get as much pressure as Dallas is acustomed too, but they were still very intimidating. They snaged 3 picks and just plain shut Omaha down. The player of the game on defense was as always Sticky Wang, 7tackles 4 for a loss and 5 QB pressures.

Dallas is sure to put the pressure on Houston and it should be a good game. Both teams have outstanding defenses and the game should be a field position and turnover battle. I have a feeling whomever can manage a touchdown will walk away on top of the world, as I dont see either team caving on defense. My prediction is first TD wins. Therefore I give Houston the slight edge. 19-12

The other very fine matchup this week in the West is Texas Roughnecks vs the Chicago "MB" Bears.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=776&team2=775

The game features two teams I had as faves to challenge for the title in the pre season. Both squads took different routes to get to this point, yet here they are one win away from the conference championship game.

The Roughnecks defeated the Hitmen 20-3. This victory was well earned as H-town is a solid crew that is doing some things in the conference. The game was a pretty even battle the main difference is Texas kept H-town out of the endzone as the yardage was pretty close to even, 244-222.5 The difference was the Roughnecks had a bit more success through the air.

The game was won for the Roughnecks through an explosive defense. The secondary grabed 5 picks and took two to the house. That is an incredible clutch performance if I have ever seen one. The defense also effectively shut down H-towns bread and butter run game. While no small feat in itself that is a key in them securing the biggest victory of their existance.

Chicago had an incredible game defeating the all bark no bite Carribean Sphere 13-26. Chicago pulled of this win with a punishing rushing attack and a stiffling defense. Notice a trend here? The Bears had a pretty balanced attack, gaining 351yards of total offense almost split evenly in the number of yards and attempts. They held Sphere to under 190yards on the game to send them home. Walter "Sweetness" Payton had a hell of a game. He rushed for 136.5yds a td and almost 6yds a carry. that is on heck of a feat against a very singy Sphere defense.

The defense held the highly regarded Sphere running game to 21.5yds on 27attempts. that is just sick. They also grabed 2 interceptions.

This game sets up to be a classic or a blowout. I have to go with the Bears here. I can see the bears winning close, I can see the Roughnecks winning close, I could also see the Bears run away with the game which I dont view as possible for the Roughnecks. Therefore, I am takeing the Bears in the game,15-12

Its a BuddyHorn conspiracy I tell ya. I can see you winning, but only a close game. You are about 33% to win. IMO

If we advance, I would be super happy to get a second shot at you. would be a fun conf. championship game.

Yes it would. However it would be minus the trash talk from us. I'm not about to be talking shit to y'all the way we've played against you.

You'd be the heavy favorite but we'd do our best to game plan a little better.

That blow out to y'all really forced us to re-evaluate a lot of things on our team.

I'm not saying we'd be a favorite to win, but we've made several changes and started looking at the game a little more intently instead of just going through the motions.

Well, I am content that when watching our films you wont have too much to concentrate on. We tend to be very well able to use any chosen part of our team to gain an advantage at any time. Pull your hair out if you want.

I'm more worried about our game at the moment. We get the fact that y'all are balanced and a good football team

And besides, there's a very good Chicago team to game plan for first.

Dallas, I really had to study you guys to gain any kind of confidence. I intended to sleep right after the games last night, but I messed up and decided to watch your game. Next thing you know, my wife is pissed I was gameplaning and studying your team until about 3am.
