4 'upsets' last week, and who would have thought that this would be the second round? Whilst the defeated skulk away to prepare for another run next season, 8 teams progress to the second round. So, which are set to reach the conference final - let's take a look!
Zeta
Spaniard Quebrantagüesos vs Bergen Black Bears
Bergen took down the Whales in the first round with a strong performance, and come up against Zeta's premier team, the 'Bone Breakers.' These Bears have some pretty big claws, but the Spaniards come into this tie as favourites.
Prediction: Spaniard 26-17
Stirling Crusaders vs Munchen The Fearless Lion
Stirling look more and more like the Colts of WEAA#3, with an impressive passing attack which opens up a clock churning running game. Munchen play tough football, and will need all their cogs oiled and whirring to cause an upset for the second game running.
Prediction: Stirling 31-20
Alpha
Knossos Minotaurs vs Fareham Demons
Fareham took down the #1 seed last game, and Knossos must be thanking them for the home game. The Minotaurs are a tough running team, and Fareham shut down the run well against the Whores - can they repeat the feat. Odds are shortening for Fareham, but they're still the outsiders at this time.
Prediction: Knossos 24-17
Seville Naranjas vs Montcuq Beserker Trolls
#2 take on #3 - this should be a classic battle between Montcuq's strength and passing game, and Seville's flexibility and gameplanning. The Naranjas are slight favourites here, given their regular season performances, and Montcuq have lost some of their momentum over the latter stage of the season. If Seville can pick the Trolls off a few times, expect to see Seville in the conference final again.
Prediction: Seville 17-12
So there's this round of games, again, let's hope to see a few upsets, and some nail biting games!
Good luck to all!
