Alright, it's been a couple games since the last poll so let's get this going. Without further adue (sp?)...

1. Transylvania Bloodsuckers 12-1 (1)
-- They have won their past 2 games by a combined score of 143-13. Granted it wasn't against teams in playoff contention but none the less those kind of scores send a message. Now, here's the scary part. That win over SoYo might not have been a fluke at all.

2. South Yorkshire Stars 12-1 (2)
-- This team will be littered with All Stars and their constant drubbing of good teams shows why. They have given up 10 points or less in 12 of 13 games so far this year and have been held under 30 only twice. With only 1 playoff contender left on the schedule SoYo has all but locked down a top 2 playoff seed.

3. Antwerp Jewish Diamond Dealers 12-1 (3)
-- Win their next two games against teams with a combined 6-20 record and home field advantage through Zeta is theirs. While that's not a foregone conclusion just yet the fans are already camping out for home playoff tickets. The only real question left for Antwerp is how exactly do they find a helmet to fit that massive afro of Derick "The Prince" Askew...

4. Amsterdam Smugglers 11-2 (5)
-- Ok, I'm convinced. Your offense looks tough and your defense has been rock solid ever since that Hamburg game. The next 3 games will go a long way towards deciding whether Amsterdam starts the playoffs on the road or at home. I have to admit I'm secretly hoping they get to play Antwerp at some point. That could be a great game!

5. Warsaw Knuckleheads 10-3 (4)
-- Tough loss against a surging Arctic Blast team will have one of two effects on Warsaw. They will either buck up and win these last 3 games or fold up their tent and over think their loss. Look for them to sweep their last 3 games and set up a potential rematch with Amsterdam in round 1.

6. Quebec Colored Trombones 11-2 (7)
-- Quebec bounced back nicely with 2 straight victories after their loss to Antwerp. With the number 2 seed in Zeta still a distinct possibility, this team must handle 2 tough Zeta teams before a great week 16 matchup against a powerful Basin City team. Do they have what it takes on D to handle that passing attack?

7. Dublin Drunken Monkeys 10-3 (9)
-- Through 2 weeks of their 4 game nightmare stretch they are 1-1 with Basin City and SoYo still on the docket. This next game against Basin City becomes a must win for both teams with a potential home playoff game at stake. The great irony here is that the winner could end up hosting the loser in round 1.

8. Belfast 9-4 (8)
-- Belfast's 4 losses have come against the top 4 teams in Alpha so it's only fitting that they sit at the number 5 seed. After a tough game against SoYo Belfast will fatten up against CCSM and Vatra before taking on Zeta's top dog in Antwerp in week 16. After a 5-0 start they are only 4-4 in their last 8 games but this team is ready to get back on the winning track and should be riding a high heading into the Zeta matchups.

9. Amsterdam Arctic Blast 9-4 (NR)
-- What can I say, I always thought they were underachieving and last week they showed that by knocking off Warsaw. This team will be riding an 8 game winning streak into the playoffs and when that happens they will be one of the hottest teams in the league. I can guarantee that no one will be looking forward to having them visit in round 1.

10. Athens Gators 10-3 (10)
-- With a game against Amsterdam on the horizon Athens has a chance to make some serious noise in Zeta and could climb as high as the second seed come playoff time. The win against Quebec could be huge as a tiebreaker for playoff seeding. Also, how can you not like a team who has the coolest player image in the league (Draco Lord).

Dropped Out: Basin City

Basin City lost to Belfast and then followed up with a less than Basin City standards win over London. With 3 tough games left this season look for them to turn it around and finish strong against the tough competition.

Just missed: Basin City, Hamburg, Wrexham, Newcastle

Well there you have it folks. The latest version of The Rankings. Let's here it. What do ya think?

Antwerp respectfully request you to drop us to #5 on the list and move quebec ahead of us. Either that or make us #1 and call off the rest of the season on account of us being happy with that ranking and don't want to jeaopardize it lol

The smugglers are 11-2.

Other than that, it will be interesting to see who makes it out of both conferences.

Quebec is happy to hit the 6 spot, but really looking to finish the season on a big winning streak.

Thanks for a nice analysis of our league set up! Still anxious to get the all star teams in.

That's pretty exciting to see us on this list, even if we "Just missed". I think our next 3 games will really show if we're worthy of being mentioned among the elite teams.

With 4 wins in a row beat Amsterdam and you'll most certainly move up.

Athens is at #10 for the second week. I don't mind playing the dark horse. We are 9-1 in our last 10. That is after cleaning house after going 1-2 in our first 3. Watch out for us, we're coming for you "favorites".

A 3 loss Zeta Athens team behind two 4 loss Alpha conference teams. #1 and #2 both from Alpha?

Has objectivity gone out the window? I think we're going to have to start the competing "Zeta Today" poll to counteract your Alpha bias.

I wouldn't be so quick to argue against the #1 and #2 selections. That's nothing to do with objectivity and everything to do with observation.

You've lost to 2 teams lower in the standings than yourself and you still made the top 10. And the 2 teams you speak of from Alpha have all lost to the top playoff teams from their division. I've said nothing but nice things about Athens all year long in each poll so I don't know why you feel i'm being biased.

That's why I do the poll though. To provoked different opinions. It's not an Alpha vs Zeta thing. I simply feel that of the top 10 teams in our league right now 6 are in Alpha.

I disagree. I think the routes that SoYo and Trans have had show Alpha is top heavy while Zeta's top 5 have been beating up on each other because we are all strong. The 2 Athens losses you mention were horrible. But they were in the first three games (before we signed half our guys). We're 9-1 since then (with a 4 point squeaker loss against Antwerp), but you still rank us behind two 4-loss Alphas. I think you're dead wrong, but that's what the forums are for (and I'd rather we be underestimated anyway).

No offense but it's irrelevant until the championship game to worry about where any of the alpha teams rank vs zeta and vice versa so being worried about someone in alpha overlooking you is a waste of time at this point.

I think we are all speculating right now but i will tell you i watched the SoYo and Trans game and it was excellant. Those are 2 very strong teams and unfortunately I got to see how good antwerp, amersterdam, and athens (starting to hate the letter A, what is it a league bonus or something?) are up close.

So the first signs we will get are going to be the out of conference games wk 16; it will at least give us some legitimate perspective. Look forward to the rest of the season with you guys and lets get to the playoffs. I think playoffs are going to have some upsets because there is parity among the teams and it will only get closer with the late season boosts.

The thing is, you can always spin records. Everything you say is true--but people could also truthfully say you're 1-3 against the top 5 teams (with a game against the Smugglers pending), and then claim that you're really just beating up on the bottom end of the league.

Thankfully we get to sim it out on the field, so the polls and spin don't matter.
