So why did you name your team the way you did? I named my team the Downey Vikings cause it's a school I used to go to & to be honest I couldn't think of anything else... easiest thing to pick.

Wanted to be the Pamplona Bulls (where they do the running of the bulls), but our owner ended up settling on Barcelona.

Huge Louisville Cardinals fan, so I wanted to be the Cardinals. More than a few British friends so wanted to pick somewhere in England. Chelsea was what I decided on, though we might be overshadowed in the community by the other team playing "football" there.

The Ironton Tanks were actually a semi-pro football team right here in my home town of Ironton, Ohio back in the early 1900's. Glenn Presnell was their star player, and their coach Earle "Greasy" Neal was the only person in history to coach in the Rose Bowl (in 1922), win an NFL title (Philadelphia Eagles two years in a row, 1948 & 49), and win a World Series (1919 Reds win over the Black Sox). The Tanks finally moved on in the 1930's to become the Detroit Lions.

There is a pretty cool history behind them, and I actually did a short summary of a lot of the facts gathered from other locations on our webpage at:

Just click on the black and white picture if you're interested in more information about the real Ironton Tanks.

My team started in Helsinki and I wanted to keep the town the same since we are the European league. Since it's Norse I went with hammers as in "Thor's hammer".

i think it has a decent ring....

Well I don't really know how I came up with mine... I don't even remember what the name was before I renamed it... It was something Kings... I just wanted a cooler town... I also was dying to use the Burger King image as my mascot, don't know why I hate BKing.. Just like the King!

Jack the Ripper had his way. Whitechapel was where this took place....Hence the name Whitechapel Rippers. And apparently, we are having our way as well!!

You've got a tough opponent to close out the season. Rome is no push over.

I received this team after day 6 and it was called the Gnomes.. Hell, the members and I thought it is not that bad of name.

Our main question was, "Why should we discriminate against the Little Gnomes" (except for that travelocity gnome, he is an annoying little critter) So as you have guessed, the "Gnomes" is the name we will stick with.
