Does speed have any relation to a QB's release or is it strictly a running thing?

If any stat did however, I'd assume it would be a combination of agility and throwing.

QBs in GLB all have the same release. I'm about 98% sure that the AI doesn't even take release time into account. Strength is what determines how fast the ball gets from the QB to the WR, if that's what you mean.
