I recently heard it help a lot when throwing short passes.

Is it true that it will stop Qbs from trhowing bullet passes to HB that are 2 yard away from them ?

If your team throws a lot of short passes I'd say it's worth it. I don't have any points in it myself though.

I've got it at level 3 (4 points).

I wish I had them back.

Short passes are worthless, so I wouldn't waste SPs into something to make them happen more. I'm fine with my guy throwing the incomplete.

Why are short passes worthless?

Most of the time they only go for 2-3 yards. And if your receivers are covered the QB should dump it off anyways with a 0 short pass setting.

If you are a pocket passer with anything resembling a decent build you shouldn't have a problem completing short passes unless you are under pressure. But if that is the case then Pocket Presence would be a better investment, being the first ability in the pocket passer tree means you need it anyway to work on abilities like tight spiral.

The only reason I could really see investing in it as a pocket passer would be if your team ran a lot of passes to the HB and FB and both of those positions had bad catching scores and you were under pressure often enough that you had problems throwing them good balls. But if that is the case I suspect your team has some other concerns to address first.

why?

you do know that each incomplete only destroys your in game morale?

besides, you don't have to plan for short passes to throw them. your QB will check the ball down during med/long passes if nothing is open anyway.

2 points in on the run and 2 points in dump off couldn't hurt

I don't know that a single incomplete pass "destroys" morale. A lot of them, sure. But how many times do you plan on not being able to complete a 3 yard pass?

im saying though

compared to a dump off pass to a HB for no gain and an incomplete

i'd take a dump off any day especially when HB passes do GREAT sometimes

it also depends on the team your facing

i know there is plenty of teams that can shut your passing game down by forcing you to throw incomplete the first few drives

then come the interceptions and they usually come in floods

But that's comparing incomplete dump off pass to complete dump off pass that usually nets less than 3 yards and sometimes 0 or negative yards. The question is how many times a game are you throwing to your HB and how many times is it incomplete? Usually the reason you throw to a HB is he is uncovered because the linebacker that would have him went somewhere else (see your above play, only usually he gets tackled by a linebacker or safety shortly after he catches the ball and tries to run down field). So now you are talking about how many times do you have a hard time completing a pass to a wide open receiver less than 5 yards from the line of scrimmage? If your QB is built right then it should be pretty rare you miss a lot of them in a game. We're talking about the passes you already have the BEST chance of completing because they are the shortest and the target is usually several yards away from the nearest defender.

the game that i showed the replay for, we used 0% HB Passes and 0% short passes

which is one of my points that passes to the HB are going to happen regardless of your settings

why not give that extra boost for when they do happen

Because Bort's on record as saying that the main reason the whole "SAs are overrated" mantra came about was because they're just not going to be real effective at lower levels. So while 2 and 2 in OTR and DO may not be a lot of SPs, it's not a big effect. I'd rather increase my Throwing or Vision by 2 personally.

Our last game, we faced a lot of pressure.

Set to 0/0 Short/RB we threw at them 9 times.

TE was set to 40% and in 87 plays went for them twice.

You will make the dump pass anyway and vision>>>>>>>>>>over those 2 SAs.
