Anyone running into this? Has happened a few times now, with the custom read order set ... the default order set similar, it just ignores it the read order completely and targets the 4th or 5th read, right off the snap?

Had several in one of today's games, where it threw it to the 5th read (a WR, not a HB/FB, so not dump off setting), RIGHT after the snap. I'm scratching my head, no idea why it would do that ... blitz setting should get it throwing faster to the FIRST read, if it were that ...

https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=75214&pbp_id=354684 <- 5th read, no blitz coming. The first four 'safer' reads, just completely ignored. (Despite this one working, there were several that had gotten picked earlier)

The custom O plays page DID take like 10 minutes to load ... maybe that's glitching it out? Like during the sim, it's struggling to read crap fast enough, and just making up it's own read order? Seems doubtful, as the patterns were right, just not the read order. Have triple checked the plays, the packages, the OAI level, everything is adding up to 100%, and if it was a 'random' play, I don't think it pulls from custom ones anyways. Baffled ...

Interesting. I swear in the past, that might get it to short circuit and jump to the 5th, with the "I'm open!" thing, but the read 'beam' was on the 5th read, literally right off the snap.

CB positioning makes QB read the WR as uncovered pre-snap, doesn't even get to the I'm open fiasco

Well ... that's insane. I guess so few people were running zone in the past, I never ran into the "DC gets to override your read order completely" bullshit.

Going to have to rebuild literally all of my offenses, and that also means targeting the outside WRs even less. That might honestly be the nail in the coffin of my interest, but thanks for explaining it. G'damn, that feels like a bug more than an intended behavior to me ...

Yep, our success is built on this meta. Baiting QB throws with CB alignment/zones on defense, as well as using blockers at WR1/WR2 on offense to avoid the issue with progressions in our passing game. It's BS but we adapted and is working well. Our old scheme we just left WR1/WR2 off the progressions against these defenses, then realized if we are going to do that, might as well just make them blockers so they can provide in another aspect of the game, which really opened up the outside run game.

Not every team or every DC is using this style of bait defense, so your offenses should still be good for traditional man2man teams, but if you just copy the scheme and remove WRs from the progressions, you'll see an instant boost against these types of defenses. Dr E also has some tricky setups where he baits the TE into being the instant read, but most we see just do it to the WR, so going with HB/FB/TE focused pass plays is where you can counter.

Playing Jason Voorhees at WR works well. You can chase zone defenders off the field.

Really clever, I've started building some exxagurated Poss WR recently but might just start building some blocking receivers cos I feel like they'll be in high demand as less and less teams use long passing offensive schemes.
