I’m sure I’m not the only one who has brought this up - what’s the hurdle?

There was this thread by Ravenwood that had a lot of great ideas and interest. I think we all would like to see a spike of interest from new and returning agents to bring the game back to what it was

Looked through the thread - definitely a lot of good ideas. No one else chipping in?

Lots of talk about ad campaigns and that type of stuff, which is effective but would require a budget (considering the game likely isn't a top priority - that could change if the community comes back to life)

We're at a pretty impressive crossroads with AI right now that didn't exist when this game was at it's peak. I believe that a small group of people could use social media - particularly short form video to drive some traffic to the site. The website is well tenured and will be easy to find if people seek it out. The AI Stuff I speak of is more engaging content:

Exodcasts for leagues - this could easily create some engagement - for example NotebookLM and chatgpt can create this from just a box score and a play by play- I could easily add in some context, make a template and this would be able to be produced on demand, with unique content using data from our games. Video, text, audio, images - all of it can be generated pretty easy.

I can't believe after so many years that a low tech game like this is the best football MMO on the market - seriously there is likely an insane untapped market and if we mobilized our community - we could generate a lot of traffic to this site.

I think everyone here is biased, but the game is pretty addictive and fun once you get the hang of things! Plus there's a lot of good options for people to play their own way whether working your way up to the pros or making players and resetting after a couple of seasons! It's all about how the agents dive in. The stuff you mentioned can be a nice add on and touch for owners and agents

It would be great to get some ads out or some type of advertising to lure agents back in and then like was mentioned, an email blast to agents that have left bullet pointing significant changes and where the game is at. Maybe send them as the off-season is coming or something

I had a chat with Ravenwood, I'm a UX designer with lots of experience in marketing I'm tempted to put up a couple ad funnel landing pages and start some social accounts.

I did reach out to Bort and DD on discord but didn't hear anything back, might just have a play around and see if I can get any traffic to the site.

The hard part is without having access to the GLB website traffic/accounts etc its hard to know what (if anything) would be effective

I love your idea about using AI to gen some content internally - I LOVE the podcast idea, maybe like a summary podcast 20 mins long after every match day to summarise different results/plays of the week type thing.

Above is a podcast from our league games this week - this took roughly 5 minutes to build on my phone, for free, with copy/paste and a couple apps.

I believe social media could be easier than we think - with a small community of people we could probably hack TikTok or instagrams algorithm pretty easy to get website clicks. We could use our referral links to get people to sign up.

I’d be happy to organize a real team to do this. Perhaps the most actionable thing would be to hold a conference call/town hall style meeting to organize

Any promotional material should focus on outcomes--the gameplay itself is a representation of the underlying builds, but not all that impressive to those who are used to video-game level of graphics.

So its great to say "Johnny WR blew past defenders for 2 long TD catches", but the graphic representation of those 2 plays should be all that is featured. This is a game about the building of great players--the game graphics themselves are merely the result of good or mediocre or bad builds.

You’re right - there are apps like invideo ai or sora that could probably generate some generic football footage for us. Then those videos need stories - I think stories not only make the game more engaging and unique but also having a simple share but to bring those to life and make them shareable. It probably wouldn’t be a reach now to do a real 10-15 minute video production - synthesia ai can have characters that speak in sync with what we write. Add highlights edited in - it would be watchable and viral for social imo.

I think one essential thing to bring back the popularity of this site is to actively seek the input of the old-timers. There is a reason they are still here. Interview the folks running HOOD. Interview King of Bling. Interview Playmakers. Interview WiseIvian. Interview Mauler. Interview Kinshenzin. Interview RyanCane. Interview drewD21. Interview shep1582.

And there's 2 dozen others who need to be interviewed, I just haven't been around for awhile and I'm sure I'm going to regret leaving them out the moment I hit "Post". That won't require three dozen segments--have a *round table* with several of them, and then repeat the process a few days later.

My apologies in advance to anyone I failed to mention.

This is actually pretty cool. A bit of rambling about anime, but I'm assuming the Ai picked up on a name and hyper focused on it.

But if it only takes 5 minutes to do, and it's so easy, why is there just 1?

The season is half over now.

This is a drop in the bucket. It's easy to talk a big game, but when the rubber hits the road, no one wants to take on a project like this for free, and actually keep it going, and actually post it in the public domain where some one not already in GLB has a chance to stumble on to it.

There's a reason why companies pay to have a social media team.

That being said I'm sure Bort/DD might be willing to do a FP/RP system of some kind.

However, there might be some kind of fee or legal issue when this becomes used for something other than "private use" or "entertainment purposes only" or whatever else.

I made one in the private forum for a team that I'm on as a test, then posted this same thing in rookie league chat - asked for feedback and received none, so I haven't made more because I didn't think there was an audience for it. Ultimately I'd like help from the community to refine the prompt that I use to teach Notebook LM not to deep dive into anime for instance - and to give more of the commentary people want. This also will streamline the data that needs to be copy/pasted into Notebook LM for the AI podcasters to reference. I can post a video/text walkthrough on here how to do it so maybe people would be willing to do so independently - at least 1 person running this per league. FP/RP would be great. I could definitely seeing that be enough incentive considering the low amount of effort to create it.

Now if we can get Bort involved - we could probably get an API and automate the data collection and sending it to notebookLM through Zapier. I don't mind doing it for free to get things started - obviously for scale we would need the cooperation of the developers. This would open up using it on the platform directly perhaps rather than having a link that gets lost in a thread. I don't see this happening unless the dev team were to see an anomaly of activity (something that this could generate). This also would open the door to more major productions.

Hardly anyone looks at the rookie league forums.

If you want it seen and get feedback, post it here, in this forum.
