i understand that the replay doesn't match the sim is a thing, but it just didnt look like a catch to me.

not complaining, it went to my benefit.... just looked more like an incomplete pass than a catch and tackle for safety....

Looks like your OC should be fired for designing a 3 yard out.

thats not what i meant. the play is not mine.. im on defense.
i think their offense plays are good.. im questioning the way the throw is short and off to the side...

to me the playback looks off, like the wr never caught the ball and it was a pass deflection .

Never seen anything like it. I doubt it's reproducible. Not worth poking around in code that's otherwise stable.

If I was to guess, I'd say it's supposed to be a KL. Which requires a catch. Then the dot gets tackled to knock the ball loose. You can kind of see the typical KL lunge by the MB.

Tackling a receiver in the end zone probably triggers an automatic safety, instead of resolving completely.

Typically there's a line for "thrown away" or at least "bad pass" in the pbp to explain a throw that off ...

That play has never in all the times we've run it, had the TE go like 6 yards straight backwards after finishing his break. Weird, but definitely not the weirdest play I've seen.

Anyone remember fast rQBs on 100 elusive back around S20 doing the flight of the bumblebee all over the backfield? Good times.

I have to agree with Venom here as that isn't a play that should be called when you have the ball on your own 4 regardless of the outcome.

I'm guessing you're right though. Maybe when there's a safety, it just doesn't include the (thrown away) for the sake of brevity, that's what I thought when I first looked at it. Thrown away ball, and it decided that Afterburner managed to catch it for the safety, despite the actual play not really matching up.

I don't give a flying crap honestly about the play. As far as the "you should never call XYZ", easy to say when it's this one example ... there's plenty of 20-30 yards completions, and a few 95 yard ones from us calling our 2B passes package at a low % on the goal line, along side our 2B runs package, so that we're not tipping our cap.

But yes, you should always run a dive in that situation, because one time it resulted in a flukey safety.

i wasnt trying to have the offense play questioned, my bad sorry G75. ... just if it looked like a completion. i thought it looked like a glitch and i think TJ may be right. its not a big deal... i just didnt really see that on a catch. i dont think it looked like it should of been a safety.
