I wish you the best Theo. Diabetes runs in my family so, of course, I have it as well. I understand yours is a thyroid thing, but controlling blood sugar when you have either isn't an easy thing to do. I wish you the best and continue to fight it as that is about all we can do!
So... update time.
#1. Stable... finally. My wild swings in blood pressure and blood sugar and all that shit... yeah... finally stable. I'm pretty exhausted though. For those that know, when your blood gets WAY outta whack? Yeah... about as bad as you can imagine. I had days when getting out of bed was a 5 hour argument with myself. I'm still worn out (feeling like) and working on rehab to get my basic life back again but, as long as things stay stable then I think the worst is behind me.
#2. My time here? So... kinda being forced to step back quite a bit and spend a lot less time at my computer doing stuff... including my time here... was, in the end, a muchly needed thing. Until you make a drastic life change you have no idea of your life and how it really WAS. I'm more retired now than I was but still needing to work and so I've taken on a new (very big) project. Sold some acreage and the people want us (me and my neighbor) to oversee a lot of the work... landscaping... well drilling... site prep (especially septic system)... basement building... then the house itself. Should start sometime this late fall/early winter. So I'm gonna be busier than I already am... but busy in a different way. I won't be doing physical work much but project management and coordination and over-seeing. Been a damn long time since I did anything like this but I'm gonna enjoy it one last time. Likely it's my last big work project until I remodel my own home after mom passes.
#3. Speaking of mom, she hit 97 this month. Great googlie mooglie. She's now a full time job for me as well. And, since we just now finally finished paying off the house (debt free baby!) she's getting her FULL SS paycheck instead of just being a stopping point for $ as it never stuck around long enough to file an address change. Anyways... she DESERVES to enjoy what she's worked so long and hard for. Several trips to see family and things she always wanted to do... have been planned or are being planned for. In other words... I won't be returning to my previous level of play here. I'll keep my AI's and stuff because there's always a tomorrow. After mom is gone someday (she could live to 110 or die tomorrow... not my call)... I am sure, after the dust settles on the aftermath chaos of such things, I'll be a lot less busy than I am and maybe be back to having more time for this kinda stuff. Who knows.
For now I'm not making new dots for a while. I'll ride out what I have then re-assess where everything is at and make a new decision as to what's next. But I wanted to let friends here know what's been going down on the other side of the keyboard. Thanks for understanding and thanks for being a nice pain in my ass for several decades (yeah... it's been that long here. Crazy!)
Hope this message finds your own lives in good shape. A favorite quote of mine from my Navy days....
May the wind always fill your sails and the sun be at your back. Sail on.
