Someone had to have asked this before so if there is a thread to point me to post a link.

What is the criteria for Defensive MVP? Sack and INT totals appear to be more important than anything else on defense. Regarding sacks. How are they different from TFLs as they accomplish the same task of moving the ball backward? If a LB got 10 INT for a season but maybe 50 tackles is that more important than consistently stopping a ballcarrier from gaining yards to the tune of about 240 tackles per season, forcing about 8-10 fumbles and having 40 of those tackles be for loss? What if a LB got something like 30 sacks and maybe 30 tackles? To me, that is a stand up DE instead of a LB.

While we are on the topic, if anyone can cover offense criteria that would be great.

I agree. I have a LB prototype that I have used for roughly 50 seasons. He is consistently in the top 5 of tackles, FFum, FRec, KL, and top 10 of INTs, etc....but never wins Defensive MVP because some dude will have 50 sacks.

I have been lobbying for sacks to be worth less and use more "overall" stats for MVP.

They should rename the reward MVS....Most Valuable Sacker.

Truly though even the NFL usually favors the defensive MVP by sack totals too. On rare occasions we see a CB win it when they just flat dominate, but we wont see that here ever.

Sacks are much harder to get in the NFL though. They shouldn’t be worth as much in GLB.

Yeah, I finally found something I like after coming over from glb1. My guy will never get MVP, but teams will like having someone that can down powerbacks in the backfield or pop a fumble while everyone else gets trucked on the way to a score. Sacks are fantastic, but do nothing about breakaway runs for TDs with multiple broken tackles which seems to be the latest trend.

Latest trend?

That has been the trend for 75 seasons

Well it used to be quick, fast, elusive backs you just couldn't catch a few seasons ago. Then I started noticing all the missed tackles and took notice of folks switching to power these days.

More combo types now...slower but have both power & elusive running & usually Spin. A few still use the super Elu backs though.
