I have a scatback FB. Would possession receiver VAs work on him? Since I see it says TE and WR I think it won't but just wanted to see. Thanks for any help!

not trying to stir up some crap, but it depends on exactly how mentally ill you believe Bort was when he coded it, and/or wrote the description....

for example:

Power Tackler
Knock the ball loose! Each level of Power Tackler gives a +3% bonus to forcing fumbles when not using the wrap up tackle setting. In addition, it gives a +2% bonus per level to making tackles in the backfield, behind the line of scrimmage.

It's fairly well known that everyone gets the +2% per level bonus part of this VA, and then also IF you're not using Wrap-Up then you also get the 3% bonus to FF

compare that to

Slot Machine
This receiver is money in the slot. For each level of Slot Machine, this player receives a 3% bonus to the strength of Route Running and Sticky Hands special abilities and a 1% bonus to vision, when running a route. Ability applies only when playing in the WR3 position.

This one clearly states that all of the benefits only work when in the WR3 slot...

Then you get to the VA

Possession Receiver
This player catches short passes with ease. Each level of Possession Receiver gives a +2% bonus to making catches shorter than 8 yards, and a +2% bonus to resisting having the ball knocked loose by a tackle, when playing WR or TE.

So everyone might get the +2% bonus to catching short routes, and then IF you're playing WR or TE, you might also get the 2% resist KL bonus.

fwiw, if you take it on a FB, you'll probably hear about and it's probably not worth the fight. If you specifically want to test it, it's not going to hurt anything long term because you can reset out of it next season

Bort quotes aren't worth hunting, but RC is correct that Possession Receiver only works on WR or TE.

Regardless.

So... the reason it was written that way, was to differentiate that the anti-KL part wasn't tied to the 8 yard rule, but does only apply when in a WR or TE slot.

Admittedly Bort did not bring his A-game when doing SA and VA descriptions. There are several that list one position but work for several others... and some that do not. The forums are littered with queries about them. Add this one to the list.
