GLB2 Concept
Modern football is blurring the lines of positional play. GLB2 does not have dots in motion or have Jet Sweep WR runs. Scat Backs currently aren't invested in much since they start deep in the backfield. Likewise, having a DT play LDE, for example, shouldn't be penalised so heavily in the game. Nor SS play CB3. Nor CB play FS.

Description

Positionless:

This player has an innate feel for the game and can play anywhere on the field.

Out of Position Penalty to Skills: Reduced by 50%
Out of Position Penalty to SAs: Operate at 50% maximum of the player's original position

Min Salary: +10%
Conflicts with: Natural and Adept (similar concepts with different implementations)

Side Suggestion: Natural, Adept and Positionless conflict with one another.

***EDIT***

Positionless only applies to positions that the player is listed on the depth chart. If not listed, then he suffers the OOP even with the trait.

I think just -10 to all caps conflicting with eb and hidden potential and allowing any position would be fine

Could take it a step further and just make an athlete position with no penalty on sa or points with all offensive and defensive sp locations

I would get rid of the OOP penalty 100% for the trait. Only way it's worth it

I don't think it needs to conflict with anything really. It's not super strong, just allows you to move a player around and the -10 is plenty penalty already. Also your already limited by where that particular player is allowed to play. ie...A CB can only be a CB or Safety. I doubt Bort will let a player be truly positionless to avoid anyone finding a way to exploit it.

I could certainly use this perk on one of my CBs right now….

LB is the perfect position player for this. Warner from the Niners comes to mind. He’s one of the best coverage LBers out there, tacklers, and when asked to blitz, he does well.

I just want LB be to be able to be able to play SS with the oop. SS plays a lot of unders and lines up commonly with the TE.

Also, last season Jimmy Ward broke into the top 100 of NFL players as a nickelback, when he trades as a safety

Juice plays anywhere, and CMC can start out wide with Deebo behind the QB.

Arik Armstead was drafted as a DE, but now plays (excels) at DT

You might run into issues with some swaps.

For instance, SS stars are like 2m less than LB stars. I can have 4 of them, and 4 FS.

I could easily star four SS, give them all positionless, just use them all for LBs and use the FSs I have leftover to fill my safety positions and save myself around 8m in salary. The same argument could be made of DTs VS DEs.

Is that a problem if I'm using a weaker player archetype and surrendering a trait? Unsure, but it's something to consider.

This is why Bort probably won’t do it.

Sounds interesting. I wouldn't call it Positionless. Call it Slash. Remember Kordell Stewart? The QB that punts? Even Randall Cunningham toe kicked a punt from shotgun with his butt on the goalposts.
