Been so long I have forgotten what the advantage of the 4th piece is and if it is worth it.

if you know how to build it really doesn't matter - either way can work
I build 3 AE but typically will end with at least 5 4 AE dots just because shopping worked out great

Or you plan on a 4aeq dot but shopping sucks and you end up building a 3 aeq dot
Also some dots it could be better to go with a 4aeq as you could use more % pcs on certain dots over others

+3 to a skill and either +5 to a SA or +15% bonus ability. That simple. Dots with 3 AEQ will be short of those things. Dots with 4 AEQ will not.

IMO, outside of shopping luck...
You should decide whether you'd rather have +1 to 3 attributes that extra multi training time would give you
Or,
If you'd rather have the extra +3 to 1 attribute that the 4th piece of AEQ would give you.

but 3 AE dots will have higher attributes / EL
so there is a tradeoff

As a ROUGH rule of thumb...
Go 4AE if any of the following are applicable
A. You need 1 attribute SUPER DUPER high
B. You need 5x combined +% AE+CE (pretty rare?)
C. You plan to take multiple SA's to 11+ (pretty rare?)
Example: Pro leading 170+ Spd WR Darth Plagueis is 4AE: https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4851994
Go 3AE if any of the following are applicable
A. You have a lot of attributes you want to get to high levels
Example: AAA leading in sacks pass rusher Darren Spicer is 3AE: https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4847842
===========
At this point I'm a pretty strong proponent of 3AE O-Line & D-Line. Other positions are really a discussion, though on defense you need so much stuff that it's kinda hard to justify 4AE on non-blitzers (but what do I know about defense or dotbuilding, idk).
If you're not trying to hit some 164+ in an attribute (rare), and are not trying to get 5x +% AE/CE (rare), I think its generally easier to build WL-quality dots with 3AE.
