In blowout games whoever is the starter gets all the plays. Other positions are also affected but not to this extreme.

There is a favor backups setting in the Advanced Energy tab on your team Tactics page. But that's only for when you are winning. If a regular team you could make an input that would run specific settings when up or down by a large amount.

In blowout games, it's not uncommon for the team that is leading by a large margin to make strategic decisions that can impact player usage. This often includes giving more playing time to backup or less-utilized players and reducing the workload for starters.

In sports, particularly in games like football, basketball, or soccer, when a team has a significant lead, coaches may choose to rest their key players (starters) to minimize the risk of injury and to provide valuable playing time to backup players. This strategic decision is based on the assumption that the lead is comfortable enough to secure a win.

In those blowout games, your 2nd QB is taking a TON of placeholder snaps on PATs, making him lower energy when it goes to pick the QB.

Either make it 2 deep with both QBs, or maybe put someone else who's got an excess of energy in those blowouts as the PH (I tend to use the punter there, since they'll typically get zero snaps in a blowout otherwise. Looks like that was the case in your last 255-0 game.)

Also, go away bot.

Yeah. As ST coach I don't like having only one option for "holder" as it can, in blowout games, abuse the hell outa them. Punter is always good there. IMHO, have 2 ST depth charts... one for normal games and one for CPU games. It's a hassle and even I don't do this all the time but it's a good idea to do.

Honestly, that bot was actually pretty solid if this wasn't a sim game

I'm with Gambler/Theo, I like having P at placeholder and ALWAYS have 2 dots in each ST position so that it doesn't absolutely tear up their energy in blowouts.

Lot's of great ideas and info. Thanks guys.
I actually moved the #2 QB to placeholder a few games ago to get him some plays. Before that he was getting exactly 0 plays.

I'll try some of these and see how it goes.

On another topic. I benched my punt return guy for a blocking TE because the offense only gets a few plays otherwise..that helped but not enough. I guess put an olineman there?

Against bots teams it's really hard to shut down the returns. I even tried my punter there being about the worst "runner" I could think of and, expendable since you're not punting hardly at all (if you even ever punt in those games). That was about the best I could do to keep from having long returns. FYI... would you believe he actually scored a TD return??? Just one but I laughed so hard my gut hurt.

Would you believe our punter returned several punts for a TD? 1st punt of the game https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=22591&pbp_id=537356
The dots were running around looking for more people to pancake

Has it always been this bad or are the cpu's worse than before?

That's freakin hilarious! That return looked like the one I had. And, yeah... it does seem like CPU dots are worse. I have a suspicion that the coding Bort was using to have CPU dots "equalize" when they face an opponent is NOT working as it should. CPU dots seem MUCH slower and MUCH worse reacting and MUCH worse blocking/tackling than ever before. I think they're "behind" the new system's builds way too much.
