I know that route. It's an angle route and the throw is right when the WR starts to change his angle from out to in.
A few things wrong? So WR doesn't seem to have great agility. I mean, it really slows down at the cut. Either that or he could be set to 'creative route running' and simply makes a real bad decision to stop there. Combine that with the QB's progression... OR, if the QB is using the created progression in the play then that progression is wrong. You want to target a receiver right at, or right after, it makes it's route break. If you target before the tendency is for the receiver to simply stop... as this one does... making an INT a high possibility. I learned that on come back and curl routes... if the timing is off, you're gonna hurt.
My bet is on the progression being the culprit. Everything I see points to the QB targeting early then throwing right at the point of the route break... which causes the receiver to stop/slow greatly... and leads to an easy pick. If that receiver is targeted after the break, maybe he gets separation and a chance at a catch since it's 1-on-1 coverage.
