another stupid question.. sorry. ..

it says it gives a bonus to completing passes that are less than 5 yards... is it safe to assume thats by the yard markers from the snap, and not a 5 yard radius around the qb as he is moving around, or 5 yards by the yard marker from where he threw from?

i know what i'm trying to ask, but i cant word it....

Hmm, I'm not sure. I always interpreted it as 5 yards or less from the LOS tbph.

But it is important that we KNOW that Hail Marry is 25 yards or less from the throw point (NOT the LOS) per the dead sea scroll Bort quotes.

It'd make sense for similar wording to be treated the same, but tbph if dump pass was treated the same as Hail Marry it'd be nonsense (since the far flat is longer than 5 yards from the QB so it wouldn't work).

So I think it's safe to assume it's 5 yards from the LOS since any other interpretation makes the SA unusable.

With that said, this is a shitty SA that is unusable in 99.9% of offenses. Short passes already have very high pass quality, and receivers breaking tackles for YAC is basically non-existent. Only way this SA even almost makes sense is if you were going to create the first offense in GLB history that's successful with possession break tackle WR's.as your sole purpose of giving short passes to them.

It's a good setting for RQB's that occasionally pass. Generally it's a "fail safe" for QB's. If you look at Bort's plays a lot of HB or FB routes are just little runs out to the flats or some other really short route. 'Dump Pass' is probably supposed to target those when all other receivers are tightly covered or the QB is feeling serious pressure. You see it in RL football all the time... one receiver just standing about 5 yards away from the QB and there as an outlet, just in case.

And I think Wise is spot on. It's from LOS, not throw point.

its nothing really, just playing around with power rush qb builds... and maybe a 3 qb system..
mostly to build in just enough passing to keep the defense honest... some rush qb defenses know, no pass is coming.
a shorty yard power rusher, short pass if they are open kind of thing for third and fourth down, short yardage. limited snaps here and there. its more for fun, not some game breaker.
