Anyone know if this really works and what the "bonus" is?

Not a fan because it requires multiple 'tacklers' to make it work as it says. That and most DC's want you to have DVG instead of Death Grip... with which, it would work well. DVG is a one on one only.

I love it for D-Line and the HH linebackers that play close to the line and fight TE blocks.
It probably doesn't work because my defense sucks most of the time.

Whenever I'm watching replays, I swear around 90% or more of the tackles is 1 on 1. However, it could work like passing defense where if the player was "in the area of effect" then it would fire. Like you though, I've never seen a replay showing it working so it's hard to say it does or doesn't.
I HAVE seen Death Grip work though and I always thought Gang Tackle would work well if paired up with DG.

Do you see plays like this in your games? If yes, then GT is good for your team.

I like it a bunch...DL and HHLB LBs.... It potentially adds tackling with no comedown on dots that in most cases are run stop types anyway. I prefer DG on these dots too....3rd down in GLB is usually the dealbreaker so expecting 3rd and short bringing in the beef ...Usually going to be a tighter defensive alignment coupled with an inside dive/blast play

Again... it doesn't say "Gang Tackle" fired but the situation looks right for it to do so there. However, there's only one name credited with the tackle and GLB never did the "1/2 Tackle" and/or "1/2 sack" aspect of stat keeping so there's just no way to tell, in that replay, if Gang Tackle fired, worked, or played any part in the outcome.
I have seen that same situation (replay type) where the PHB just kept breaking tackle after tackle.
I agree with ZZ and Pwned. It makes sense (possible) for the middle dots (D-line... inside LB's). Another great one is NVG. Cannot express how often I have seen NVG work and work so damn well.
