Using speedy players on slippery is painful to watch. Rushers consistently take bad angles (lower awareness seems better too which is baffling, but not surprising) and slow down when there's open field ahead. It's really bad/visible when going outside, but pretty good when rushing inside/bouncing from inside to outside.

Not really interested in switching to elusive since we're working on running inside more (dealing with tactics this season is a headache; I've made everything even at this point and we still rarely run inside or run the right plays plays based on tagging), so I'm wondering how to work around this?

Some of our players are already at 90+ sprinting (60+ minimums in conditioning at the moment for all playmakers) and still are caught behind or cut off because they're taking bad angles. Can slippery be tweaked a bit so it's a quick adjustment to avoid defenders instead of the footrace to the sidelines it currently is? Seems like the only tactic where rushers seem to consistently avoid their blockers as well (north/south maybe, but higher awareness and they go where the blocks go so maybe not?).

I mean, if you have guys with 90 sprinting right now, they are probably lacking in footwork/balance/quickness.

Our burner WR got cut for a respec so I have no idea how much of his jim jam is coming from low chem. He's still burning bozos down deep (and dropping walk-ins while he does it), but cannot get around the edge anymore to save his life. All his highlights came before the switch to slippery, and he's been a shadow of that as a runner since. I don't think it matters too much on QBs since ours seems to run however he wants most of the time. I have noticed that he scrambles more more frequently to the inside than the outside on slippery though.

Our HB is at (90 sprint), 30f, 60b, and 40q atm I believe.

Earlier it wasn't bothering me since I thought the same: They just aren't physically there yet. Problem is, our HB has been burning teams on screens lately (and when he runs routes he is burning defenses). Putting the ball in his hand early with slippery backfires on us often, but if we get it to them post snap it's a different runner. Combo he runs a lot better, but his playmaking after catch isn't as good.

It's hard to explain, but part of the reason why some games we run great and other games we can only create via screens. We've been trying to get all our dots on the same page, but can't lol.

I guess I'm asking for a one cut tactic/option really, which would probably still would require a great deal of physicals to start seeing the benefit. I feel like I see one cut relatively frequently on combo rushers (combo rushing might I add, is so underrated) with some speed, but no so much at the slippery level.

With that level of footwork the outside runs are slowing him down due to the angle of the run, it'll clean up some around 40-45 and also Carry Awareness helps as well there.

I tend to find Elusive works best early on and Slippery if your build is ever meant for it, comes later.

Ah, ok. Holding course it is then for a while.

See, & I’m a combo person. I don’t feel like there’s a big slippery faction. If there is, I wonder how they’re doing.

We had a combo back a few runs ago that was a menace in the pass and run because of it. We kept him on combo until (mid/late) Pro level though, but I figured since our current HB was going the elusive first route it would make sense for them to set him to slippery early

I used Omni King on the Rebels on slippery for a long time! but it honestly takes until you get to pro or vet level for it to work. until then its elusive running.

Slippery seems to need a very particular blend of Physicals and Elusive Running to out perform either Combo or Elusive.

Sometimes we get lucky on the ground, but the adjustments are pretty questionable and unpredictable (lol nice) in my opinion.

He trailed to the sideline naturally as the play progressed, so I can’t really see the reason for the hard turn in the first adjustment. Quicker defense would’ve closed out on him I feel.

'slippery' and 'north/south' are among the best styles to use if you aren't super fast and have a lot of power/elusive running. They all have their purpose, slippery and north south are for just getting what you can and breaking tackles when needed. You can utilize it on a speed back, but it takes a very specific kind of speed back to use it well and combo can do nearly as well for that type.

So...not a bug at all; simply user confusion.

Yes...I use North/South on my Power plus decent speed backs. They almost always make one cut and up the field.

eh that seems a bit backwards to me honestly. if we want quick cuts that lead to natural outside bounces I would expect slippery to be the setting.

elusive rushing to me is calculative (to varying degrees based to the rusher) in a good way, while slippery isn’t. ex: rushers running out of bounds instead of picking up extra yards with good amounts of space.

lately our QBs rushing has been unpredictable and it’s been awesome to see. I feel like the slippery setting is pretty well represented on QB rushers, but I guess having the extra blockers helps when he’s making interesting adjustments. his cuts though, have been craazyy lately.

the 'stepping out of bounds early' thing is mostly your back trying a fake and failing a footwork check - as you get that to much higher levels you start to pull a lot more of those fakes successfully cutting back in-field. Elusive likes to step out, but it will do it at the same distance as slippery and combo will - the early stepping out is almost always a failed fake.

Slippery 'wants' to go straight up field - so if you have a lot of quickness and sprint and a moderate amount of footwork it will act like a 'one cut' style - especially with a decent amount of awareness. But if your awareness is too high he will worry about too many players at one time to make a good solid one cut decision, so it's best to keep it midling and focus on skills like elusive running and quickness - though be sure not to let balance fall more than 20 ahead of quick or the cuts won't be as clean as they can be.
