Show Me What You Got!
As announced on the home page, I am looking for a set of AIs we can use to fill up the presets list. These will be usable by casual teams via the presets dropdown or available to be copied and used by normal team coaches.

What am I looking for exactly?
Offense and defense AIs to fill particular preset coaching strategies. Things like "West Coast Offense" or "Heavy Blitz Defense." These don't have to be extremely complicated, but the more useful or educational stuff we can offer to potentially new coaches as a community the better time they will have.

The previous announcement had stated that I am looking for default plays only, but I know how hard it can be to make a decent defense without custom defense plays, so I am allowing them as well, and will be working on a method where they can be accessed as preset objects for everyone.

What's the bounty?
I'm offering 10k flex points for each AI I that I choose. Not too shabby!

What are the rules or limitations and how do I submit my AI?
- Build your AI in your "My AI" section and record its id or URL link used to view it. Reply to this thread with a short description of your AI and either a link to it or its id.

- Both offense and defense AI's are open for submission.

- Your AI should be designed to fit a particular style of coaching, like "West Coast" or "Ground and Pound." Name it something that would let everyone know what it is designed to do.

- Use of tags in defense AIs is acceptable as long as they make sense.

- Make sure to keep casual depth chart settings in mind if using depth-chart specific overrides. We want these presets to be easy to slot into a casual team.

- If you do use packages or custom plays, please do not use an esoteric naming system for them. They need to be understandable to everyone. If I can't figure out what your creations are supposed to be for, I will probably not choose your AI.

- If I choose your AI, you'll lose access to edit the original when it becomes a preset. You'll still be able to make a copy of it, as will everyone else.

- When your AI becomes a preset, your user name will be added to it so everyone knows you're awesome!

I'll be taking submissions for the next week or two, or until we have enough to fill out the preset list sufficiently. Thanks to everyone for playing!

Are custom progressions on offensive plays ok?

Three QB tags for every formation. They seem to speak for themselves as to how to decide which tag to use.
Passer
Combo
None

No plays, I have never used CPU plays. Anyone who knows those plays can send me a message and I'll give you a copy to fill in plays.

Awesome Bort, you are the man for listening to feedback!

Just noting, I'll do my best to do submissions within the next 2 weeks, but maybe send 3 weeks with an official deadline date might be nice as I know DAI's in particular are going to be a mountain to build.

I'm sure custom progressions are fine.

As an aside to Bort, it'd be nice if we are able to write a description that goes with the AI's (limited instructions).

For example, defining players in customer QB/RB/FB/TE slots, suggestions when making changes, a brief description of the AI.

I have this old bookmark that appears to not exist anymore, to the part of the FAQ that listed what tags one could use on offensive players when using the old preset DAIs, and I think also listing what archetypes would be used in which custom slots (NT1, TE1, BTE1, etc) on both the old preset OAIs and DAIs - does anyone know if this info exists anywhere on the site after the reset, or does anyone have it saved and can reproduce it?

I will have a 'Blank OAI' sometime in the near future. Right now I'm like a one legged man in an ass kickin contest tryin to get dots built and friend's team needs met. Once that's done, it's into the AI creation fire I go.

What are the different Offensive Presets?

Balanced - this preset uses a variety of formations and a balanced offense. Our definition of balanced offense is one that passes and runs in relatively equal percentages except when down and distance dictate doing otherwise (for example 3rd and long will always be a pass and 3rd and short will usually be a run).

Base Offense - this is the shell used in all of the offensive presets.

Basic Tactics Default - these are the end half/end game tactics used when no AI is selected for a team. Casual teams also use these.

Big - this preset uses a balanced offense with solely Goal Line, Big I, and 2 WR formations.

Outside - this preset uses a balanced offense with a strong lean towards outside running plays.

Pass First - this preset will look to pass first, even in typical running situations.

Power - this preset uses heavy inside rushing attack.

Run First - this preset will look to run first except in the most obvious passing situations.

Spread - this preset uses a balanced offense while solely using 3 WR, 4 WR, and 5 WR formations.

West Coast - this preset attempts to utilize a standard West Coast philosophy on offense, primarily by moving the chains using short to intermediate passing routes and by using the running game to create a balance.

Wildcat - this preset is designed for use with teams with rushing/dual threat QB's.

.
What are the different Defensive Presets?

Balanced - this defensive preset utilizes a mixture of man and zone coverages with defaults for all formations and some specifics for down and distance situations.

Base Shell - this is the shell used in all of the defensive presets.

Man to Man - this defensive preset utilizes mainly man to man coverage with some Cover 1/Cover 2 in certain passing situations.

Pass Focus - this defensive preset utilizes mainly passing coverage schemes such as medium and deep zones, Cover 1, Cover 2, and Cover 3. To mainly be used against teams that primarily pass.

Run Focus - this defensive preset utilizes aggressive run coverage schemes and is to be mainly used against teams that primarily run the ball.

Tagged - this defensive preset has set up tags for some of the most common situations. The Balanced preset is the default if a non-tagged play comes up. The tags for this preset are detailed later in this FAQ.

Zone - this defensive preset utilizes mainly zone coverage schemes with some man schemes in certain running situations.

How is the Offensive Depth Chart Setup?

The preset gameplans utilize the following depth chart setup:

QB = Passing QB
QB1 = Rushing QB - only used for Wildcat preset
QB2 = All QB's - this slot is seldom used for anything but handoffs/pitches
RB = Primary Rusher
RB1 = Power Back/Inside Runs
RB2 = Receiving/Scat Back
FB = Primary Rusher
FB1 = Blocker
FB2 = Receiving/Scat Back
TE/TE2 = Receiver
BTE/TE1 = Blocker

How is the Defensive Depth Chart Set Up?
The preset gameplans utilize the custom linebacker slots as follows:

LOLB1 = Blitzer
MLB1 = Coverage
ROLB1 = Blitzer

What are the Tags for Tagged Defensive Preset?

Power (pHB) = running back that typically only runs between the tackles.
Blocker (bFB or bTE) = back or TE that typically is only in to block, not run routes.
Receiver (rHB, rFB, or rTE) = back or TE that typically is only in to run routes, not block.
Rusher (rQB) = rushing QB.
Speedy (sHB) = running back that typically only runs outside the tackles and is not called on often to run routes.

some truly useful stuff, thank you!

This was it, thanks man. Does anyone know how the non-custom LBs are set up? I'm assuming MLB,RILB,LILB are run-stuffer preferred, LOLB and ROLB coverage preferred?

I guess we wouldn't have to necessarily stick precisely to these guidelines when creating new OAI/DAI templates for Bort's contest, or should we, for consistency/clarity's sake, do y'all think? One reason I ask is that NT1 being a pass-rusher specialist seems like a layup, but it's not clear that that was put into effect for those original DAIs...

Here is an Offense for ya. Wouldn't try to use it past a couple first seasons, but it works well at rooky level.

Conservative/Basic "Bend But Don't Break" beginner defense with majority cover 2 looks with a little cover 1 and cover 3 sprinkled in based on down/distance.

Requires tagging the passing QB as "Passer" .. any other player that is in at QB will trigger the running QB play calls.

Does not differentiate between personnel outside of QB, so best suited for early leagues or casual.

NT1 is used for pass rushing DT and you want your fastest CB/best blitzer at CB5. No other custom spots are used.

That could be useful for sure. I'll see if I can figure out somewhere to put a "creator note" or something in the interface
