On a 5-2 the LB's should be LILB and RILB, not MLB and LOLB. 2 good arguments

1. A 5-2 ILB is in reality very similar to a 3-4 ILB which is correctly set.

2. Functionally most play a high STR LOLB with low SPE which isn't good in a sideline to sideline role. (ILB). Therefore the current set up commits you to having an on the ball OLB and not playing a 5-2. Or always having your LOLB be off the ball (assuming your other LOLB is coverage)

5-2 is DE DT NT DT DE WL (generally a OLB) SL (generally a MLB) FS SS (al,ost a mosterback, closer to the line) CB CB

Sorry Nacho that link doesn't work and the explanation doesn't hold water. Both LB's in a 52 are inside LB types, even at that website. https://footballadvantage.com/5-2-defense/ don't overthink it. The 52 was morphed into the 34 as passing games evolved and they needed to commit more players to coverage.

Despite all that, as far as this game is concerned, you're 100% spot on. The way THIS game works, you end up having LB's in the 5-2 that aren't copacetic to their job. Agree with OP on this, I do.

Think you are missing the all the points. What you name them doesn't matter its the job they do and these guys do the job of an inside LB. whether you call them Mike and Will or Sam and Will or Rick and Morty. According to the pretty pictures on Wikipedia there is a SLB and a WLB so according to by your reasoning we don't have a SLB or WLB in GLB so we shouldn't be able to run a 5-2

Second don't go to Wikipedia for you football knowledge.

Can you build a Rick LB and a Morty LB for my next team? We can figure out what they actually are later.
