Would be nice if GLB can add a 3rd down HB slot (we’ll call it 3DHB) on the offensive depth chart under the custom section, that way if you wanna use a specific HB for obvious passing situations it would make things much easier.

There is already 3 options. Most of us use one for our receiving back.

This is off the top of my head since I haven’t coordinated in a few years.
HB: all three HBs
Hb1: scat HB
Hb2: powerbacks
Then just make sure to use whatever slot for you oai input or whatever.

You always have to distinguish Casual vs Regular tactics teams. If you're doing Regular tactics, then ProKop and Dr. E are both right, you have 3 slots to do whatever you want with. The OP looks to be associated mostly with casual.
From the GLB section talking about tagging in preset offenses (which you can use in Casual, as I understand it) - (This would make Kurt Davey correct, generally, for Casual)

The preset gameplans utilize the following depth chart setup:
QB = Passing QB
QB1 = Rushing QB - only used for Wildcat preset
QB2 = All QB's - this slot is seldom used for anything but handoffs/pitches
RB = Primary Rusher
RB1 = Power Back/Inside Runs
RB2 = Receiving/Scat Back
FB = Primary Rusher
FB1 = Blocker
FB2 = Receiving/Scat Back
TE/TE2 = Receiver
BTE/TE1 = Blocker
