I think the kick was blocked, stayed behind the line of scrimmage, and thus was eligible to be advanced by whomever caught it. As weird as it looks, I think it's actually correct and legal per NFL rules. If the ball is blocked and goes past the LOS, then it's just dead, unless someone from the defense touches it, at which case it becomes a live ball again and can be recovered by either team.

How do I know that? Oh, no reason... (Leon Lett vs. the Dolphins in the snow to cost the Cowboys a game)

but wouldn't the block itself pretty much make it a live ball from being blocked?

Like I say, it is live if it's blocked and stays behind the line of scrimmage, if it goes past the line of scrimmage after being blocked, it's dead unless the defense touches it and then loses control of it. The defense can run it back if they field it, but if they don't touch it, it's basically like a punt if it goes past the LOS.

but again, to block the kick, the defense has to touch it. Otherwise it's not a blocked kick LOL

Ok... I get the whole idea but... why does the play title say '2 point conversion attempt'? I mean had it said 'FG Try' and then 'Blocked' and the rest, then yeah... I'm 100% on board with the thought there. That's how I thought it was too... until I saw the play title. Now... not so sure.

I think that's just a result of how the play by play results are coded, they didn't think that anyone could ever convert a 2 pt attempt other than by trying it. They were not correct, as it turns out.
