Elementary. The first round of the NFL Draft solves a fair amount of mysteries in the months leading up to the first round. Questions are typically answered, diversionary tactics are exposed and everyone has a grand ol' time finding all that stuff out in the proce s.This year is no exception to that rule. Kenny Pickett vs. Malik Willis, the draft stock of a pair of top-tier defenders and the ultimate question of who's going No. 1 overall still linger heading into Thursday.Every year, there are big draft mysteries heading into Round 1 of the draft. Here are some of the biggest ones remaining: It seems like a two-horse race for QB1 in the 2022 NFL Draft: Liberty's Malik Willis and Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett.Unlike the 2021 pa ser-rich draft, this year's NFL Draft is light on top-end quarterback talent, but both Willis https://www.justseahawks.com/kyle-fuller-jerseys and Pickett figure to be first-round picks. So, who's coming off the board first?Willis' potential as a pa ser is sky-high, given his traits and athletic gifts, but he will need some good coaching at the next level to put it all together. Pickett might be the more "ready" pa ser, but Willis has the higher ceiling, stronger arm, better mobility and is generally better suited for the 2022 NFL game. The Panthers, who sit at the No. 6 overall pick, have been attached to a number of quarterbacks throughout the offseason, from Baker Mayfield to Jimmy Garoppolo. They've also done their homework on pa sers in the draft, so they'd be the ones to watch straight away.IYER: Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton was once considered a top-five lock, but the pre-draft proce s has seemingly dinged his stock a bit. While there's an overemphasis on the 40-yard-dash time (4.59 at the NFL Combine), Hamilton's talent might be too much for a team in the top 10 to pa s up on. There are, though, a lot of reasons why he might fall: He might not be the center-field safety that teams envisioned he might be at the next level and poor agility and speed testing may hurt him a bit, too.Hamilton's landing spot https://www.justseahawks.com/rasheem-green-jerseys could be anywhere from No. 5 to No. 20, if recent reports are to be believed. That would lead to a precipitous drop for a guy who's widely considered to be the best player at his position https://www.justseahawks.com/ugo-amadi-jerseys in the cla s and one of the most talented guys in the cla s, period.MORE: Vegas, baby. With the NFL Draft still days away, it's too early to pencil in who may or may not be going with the top selection. Betting odds currently peg Georgia's Travon Walker as the No. 1 overall pick, though it's still way too early to know for sure.Vegas' odds may offer some insight to the pick, but they still don't solve the mystery of who may go No. 1 overall: The Jaguars have Cam Robinson franchise-tagged for another season, so that shouldn't preclude them from going offensive line. Both NC State's Ikem Ekwonu and Alabama's Evan Neal could be in play with the top pick. They could use a bookend rusher to pair with Josh Allen, so Walker, Aidan Hutchinson and Kayvon Thibodeaux could be viable options there, too.Or maybe they trade out of the spot and pick up additional capital in the proce s.With offensive line and edge rusher the deeper talent pools in this year's draft, the Jaguars could pa s on one position and find it in the second round, https://www.justseahawks.com/rashaad-penny-jerseys potentially. But, like coach Doug Pederson said, the team " " on whatever their decision turns out to be at the top.MOCK DRAFTS: This year's wide receiver cla s is very, very deep.Last year, five receivers went in the first round. This year, there could be six or more taken.USC's Drake London, Ohio State's Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave, Alabama's Jameson Williams, Arkansas' Treylon Burks all are pretty much locked in to be first-round wide receivers.Jahan Dotson (Penn State), Christian Watson (North Dakota State), George Pickens (Georgia) and Skyy Moore (Western Michigan) could all also land in the first round. Given the unpredictability and the lack of elite talent at the top end, some of those guys who would be considered second-rounders in other years could find themselves in the first round on Thursday. There are more than enough wide receiver-needy teams to fill those spots, too: The Jets, Falcons, Patriots, Chiefs, Packers, Ravens, Texans and Eagles could all be viable landing spots for receivers.BENDER: It wasn't long ago when Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux was going to be the No. 1 overall pick for the 2022 NFL Draft just before the start of the college season, in fact.Long https://www.justseahawks.com considered one of the top pa s-rush options in the 2022 NFL Draft, Thibodeaux's stock, much like Kyle Hamilton's, has waxed and waned, and he could go anywhere from No. 1 to somewhere outside the top 10. Some have pointed to Thibodeaux's desire to build his "brand" as a reason for his potential slide. It is smokescreen season, though, so maybe this news is all just a clever ploy to get him to fall to a team outside the top 10. After all, Thibodeaux produced in college, projects to be a plus run defender at the next level, and despite good sack numbers in college, still has room to grow in rushing the pa ser.Come Thursday, it should surprise no one if Thibodeaux goes top-five. Still, it can be hard to determine where the smoke ends and where the fire begins.
