For the WR that catches the ball, is it a "catch in stride" even though the throw causes the WR to come to a complete stop? With the game setting the WR's speed to a certain value once catch is made?

The WR (level 52 in the replay) that catches the ball has like 145 speed and only 75 agility. Not particularly great catching/vision/anything else (first cap catching and vision, very low stamina/confidence). +1 speedster tree, 1 pt in Catch in Stride 1 pt, no other SAs. I guess it could be First Step but it's just whacky how he takes off when the build doesn't seem capable of that.

Anyone more experienced with the passing game, have you seen attribute-defying replays like this before?

Can't really say what happened, but low confidence receivers tend to stop to make catches. Usually fixes itself at about 30 confidence. Could also be there is a way point there and the QB read the WR as open.

I mean my WR sucks as a pass catcher so it stopping on basically every route, that makes sense, just don't understand how he starts at full speed after the catch (not complaining just want to know what to put points into to see more of that lol)

Another angle? It might not the throw that causes him to stop. I've seen this before and have actually asked if the receiver was set to 'Creative' route running. Assuming yours is not, then it well could be a vision check that actually worked (yes... even at low [skill] levels they happen sometimes). I know the play well and the WR's route is the 'hot' route but it's supposed to keep going rather than stop there. So I would guess the WR passed a vision check to notice the zone coverage and that it's set deeper down the field... he stops in the open area... QB see's he's open (also sees the NT breaking through... clock is ticking!) and throws the pass. Believe it or not, with a defensive cushion as he had, 75 agility is high enough for him to get right back up to speed soon enough before defense has chance to close in. At the highest levels (level 79's) that time won't exist but he'll have higher agility by then as well so he'd still make decent yards.
Most of the time receivers won't bugger off their routes like that... unless they pass a vision check and then they'll stop in an open area such as you see here. I just wish they'd RUN to open areas more so QB's would have easier targets. Creative is supposed to make that happen but I've never seen it work well enough to ask receivers to set for it. I could be wrong which is why my passing game sucks.

Ok so I think I get all that, this thread & my question is what's causing the WR to START at full speed after the catch

something like:
-SA firing?
--first step?
--catch in stride?
-the sim lets the player "accelerate while bobbling" so that once he starts moving it's at higher speed than if he was flat stationary?
-fluke?

this replay is totally atypical from the WR's usual play, which is sluggish and what you'd expect with 75 agility in mid-level leagues, it's either a huge glitch or something fired, he never does this

First step is my best guess. but if it's really that uncommon for him, it's just as likely some weird bug

My guess would be a couple/few things firing together. Throw roll with no pressure, a lucky catch roll, and then SAs. Maybe running style, so he didn't have to "decide" which direction to run? Plus he was wide open so every check would have been easier to make.

Agree. Not one thing but several. The fact the pass doesn't look bobbled... that it seems to be right on time and on target... being wide open so no effects from nearby defenders. Even if the receiver doesn't have any points in 1st step it can still fire I distinctly remember a Bort saying same way back when. And I can confirm seeing some SA's fire on 1st level dots that haven't even bought CEQ yet so....
In replays where I see receivers NOT do what yours did it's generally due to extra time making the catch for whatever reasons. Yours is a super clean looking catch so that well could allow everything else to run at top levels as well.

we must have different replay settings because on mine he appears to full stop, bobbles extensively, and then takes off like sonic the hedgehog impossible for his low agility
i'll change my settings to see if it ends up any different but yeah, weird

With Bort's wonky graphics it could be it was bobbled... or it could be you see bobble but there isn't one. Kinda like those FG's that look good but aren't?

Didn't want to make a new thread with same title so just popping this in here. When I watch my replays, it shows the CB falling down but not why. Does anyone have better replays or maybe, explanation? Thanks in advance.

#1.) https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=3089630&pbp_id=663071

CB covering TE.

#2.) https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=3089630&pbp_id=663301

Different CB. Same TE. Same QB.

On your account page make sure you're set to 20 frames/second. Stuff doesn't show up if you're using 10 frames/second like its 1995.
