Was there like some S* contract modification or something? There are teams with like, 12-15 S* on them. Could we always do this? Did some salary Cap stuff change? It feels new.

You always could, You end up cutting pretty much all of your depth.

Brood used low Salaries on backup OLineman that where only going to block on Special teams. So they missed out on 5% Chemistry bonus. No big deal.

The low Contracts allowed them to have S* along the OLine and grind out First Downs running the ball as they were pure builds.

That's smart.

It depends on how and when you use the depth.

So is the downside mainly conditioning? I saw Spamalot had basically an all S* defense and my brain did a factory reset

Superstar heavy teams have a few down sides.

1) There's no rotational players to keep your *'s fresh. (Conditioning)
2) Special teams is.. Not good. I'd expect most of the special teams touchdowns the last 5ish seasons are against full CPU or very heavy s* teams.

As long as the dots builds including high conditioning and toughness their depth doesn't really become much of an issue. Now that does mean that is SP they have to use towards condition/toughness and not to other advantageous areas.

You also cannot put in special defensive packages....ala vs all run teams or all pass teams. All your S* are basically combo players.

Over 58 seasons there has been plenty of push back over teams going more and more S* heavy.

In the end, they want a S* game because you have to create other players to fund it. It's a business and they need revenue dollars. (I don't have any issue with this and doubt most do.)

This is why you see 8-15 S* laden teams. It's all about how many SPs you can get on the field for each play. Having a 200,000 SP non-S* player on the sideline with a $3 million salary doesn't help you. You're better off cramming $8million salary players with 250,000 SPs into as many positions as possible.

As such the game isn't newbie friendly. You either need multiple accounts (there's a way to do it without getting banned and of course ways to do it and get banned) or you need a network of other players to form S* heavy teams. But almost every game/network/real life activity is like this. People complain about not being able to just "jump in" and be competitive all the time but almost nothing works that way. You're not going to play the guitar like Eddie Van Halen on your first day. And you're not going to form a Van Halen-type band on day one either (typically).

I self-restricted my teams on the S* front for almost 50 seasons but eventually ran out of concepts to run with only 2-3 S*.

It's a game as Myrik has said plenty of times. Play it and having fun is a better goal than trying to win the Ladder in my view, but to each his own.

There shouldn't be a limit of three star players per user to make it even for everyone

To me, all *S teams are overrated. I'm sure by the time we get to Vet they have a real advantage but there are a few things we can do to build our normal players to complete with all *S team. Just because the player is a *S doesn't mean he has a good build.

Most of my normal build offensive players will outperform defenders with *S builds. Most of my normal builds rank top 3 they're the leagues, consistently.

You really have to take advantage of the proper SAs in a *S dominated league.

House Party has 8 stars. Currently 0-2. They have had a really tough schedule. They opened the season against The Program which has 9 stars on their roster. House Party put up over 400 yards against the Program, and less than 350 against us. We put up 437 yards on House Party. The Program put up 433 yards. Our normal team with 3 stars and really good builds are putting up star numbers.

The best-performing sophomore WR after 2 games is not a star. It's my wr Curly Troop-Smith. 15/16 catches with 154 yards and 1 td. https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/hof?season=59&type=off_data&position=WR&league_id=0&tier=Sophomore

This should be the motivation that you can build your players to compete with any team. This is not braggadocio. Anyone can lose and all of these teams have a bright future!

They are in the early tiers. At Vet, you won't win without several S*s.

lol...didn't read the rest of your post before posting. But yeah, you won't be a top team in Vet unless you have several S*s. The top teams in Vet have several S*s and they know how to build good dots. But you are correct...just having S*s on your team won't win you championships.
