it does if you care about preseason results. If you're like pretty much most people, preseason means nothing is just to test things out.

yes, but unless you know the other team is actually trying and not just ignoring it, are you getting an actual picture on what it'll look like? What looks good in preseason versus a bland scheme can look very different when the other team actually game plans. But yes, it's good for that if things work out well.
