If there is low demand then you just won't find a team. Done.

In theory, I'm not against the free player limit, but the numbers WG uses are dumb.

First of all, when you create a player, you can only play in Rookie, so the number of players in other leagues doesn't really matter. It should only be based on the number of rookie dots.

Then, the Goal Line formation uses 3 TEs. Every team needs to carry at least 3 TEs. WTF is anything under 3 "low demand"? A very large number of KR/PR are HBs because they make the best Returners by a large margin. If there's no way to separate them, why are HB numbers so low?

Conversely, every team needs a K and a P how is anything under 1 not "high" or "very high"?

I'm sure this is on the list of updates for the Season 100 Extravaganza.

Common sense obviously didn't play a part in that equation.

My thoughts differ a bit from all of yours but ends at the same conclusion for a different reason.

I totally understand why it was put in. And I understand why (although disagree with the reason) it was made simple and just covers 'all players' rather than removing players over a certain age from the equation and allowing for 3 TE's and ST players and all that jazz... micro coding is a tedious bitch so it was easier to just be simple. I get it. Don't like it.. but get it.

What I DON'T understand is why it (restrictions) hasn't been removed by now for 2 main reasons;

#1 is the current status of the game. There's less people playing... less new people joining (although returning old players has been a thing lately)... and that means more CPU teams and D-league teams with empty rosters. PLENTY of room for those extra dots!

#2 is $. By restricting what players can be built, Bort is effectively restricting the amount of money he's getting. Yes, i get it most of the complaints are about using Free Players for high $ positions but if that's really a major issue then simply make it so 300 flex positions cannot use Free Players. (That'll cause some grumbling, for sure). But I don't think that's necessary because a team still needs 55 players and making extra players in case you muck up a build or for future teams you plan on putting together. In any case, it wouldn't change a thing if you just removed the restrictions and I would bet Bort might well make a smidgen of more moolah if he did so.

It's time for it to join the dinosaurs. Restriction extinction.

I've never understood why there wasn't a 100 flex position on D like there is for both the O and ST's.

Maybe because defense players can have more stats, O-Linemen have only pancakes. Bort smells money from distance...

I did a search and there are over 52,000 HBs over 1000 days old. Do these inactive HBs count towards the low demand?

No. It gives the stats it's using on the "Create Player" page, it's only counting about 750 total HBs. If you search for all HBs (but don't include retired ones), but click the "Active Players only" button on the search, I think that roughly matches the number they give. It matches the verbiage on the "Create Player" page, which lists "X number already active"

As of this writing I'm seeing 759 active HBs, and 2.59 HBs per team which is low demand

which means that there's 293 teams that are counted against the limit

there needs to be about 10 more teams bought before HBs will register as free.

what usually happens, is at the day 40 mark, contracts expire, teams are sold, an inactive dots get purged from the count

However lately, there have been almost no new teams being bought, so that the math never opens up HBs for free player slots.

The argument has always been that the thresholds are arbitrarily low and kind of dumb. It's even stupider for TEs.

Eventually teams are just going to start using OTs as BTEs.

I remember noticing the HB goes into 'Low Demand' but doesn't change color to red like the TE position does when it's in Low Demand

Which makes me wonder if it's just sloppy coding when they adjusted the threshold at some point in the past (written text changes at a #, but text color changes at diff #), or something more sinister, like 2.6/team is not actually low demand, but they just force everything to be low demand anyway

Well, at some point, TEs hit average. HBs are still sitting at low.

They're the same color and font, so you could be right.

Or maybe there's a setting for "almost average" that makes it not Red..?

New players are rookies so the only teams that count for needs should be Rookie Teams.

I'm sure that's on the to-do list for Bort.
