I always wondered- sometimes I'd see FGs that definitely looked like they had hook or draw but it was so difficult to determine if it really did. Here is the most recent:

but then, this time, I got confirmation on the very next kick off:

It most definitely did hook (at least in the old replays) as it was out to the right hashmark but was caught by the returner exactly in the middle of the field. How bout that, lol

Don't shoot me for this but the FG is straight... and so is the kickoff. It's an optical illusion. Because the ball travels UP during the replay, it 'appears' to hook or move. I asked this same question many, many, years ago when I 1st started ST's and scouting. I sure thought it was 'hooking' but I was set straight by Ellis in a PM (sent the query to support and she replied).

It was ages ago but Bort said what you see in the replays are just an estimation on things. So what appears, doesn't necessarily mean that's how it actually is. I tend to agree with Theo on it as well. When it's going forward (as well as up) the ball gets bigger and as it gets closer to the destination and heads down, it gets smaller. So it will give a slight appearance of hooking visually, when the reality is it isn't.

However, keep in mind, this game is very simply designed in terms of graphics. So I doubt much effort was put into making things that can happen in real life visually show in the replays. We all know balls hook all of the time in real life. Just because it's a straight trajectory in the replays, doesn't mean it's not actually suppose to be hooking. So if there's really nothing wrong with believing that you see the ball hooking in replays.

Edit: Not saying anyone is saying that there is something wrong with believing you see it hook.

Not a fan of hooks. Not to the jaw... not pulling me off the stage... and not on my puts. For damn sure not on my puts!
