what if we had two super cpu teams that played against each other daily/semi-daily that we could opt a player or a few players into.

The CPU teams could have weekly/bi-weekly themes like zone defense/power running or man defense/west coast maybe Blitz/Air Raid.

Players could get a record in this "arena?" style league maybe once a month the individual players with the most wins form two teams and have a little pickup championship series best 2 outta 3 or 3 of 5.

could even "eliminate" losing players and not let them play again that week or something like that.

could have a raffle or something to get a chance to coach the teams but it would probably be better if it was a cpu vs cpu.

Maybe each tier could have a sorta league for this or sophomore and higher tiers only.

It would be cool if it lined up during the off days especially at the end of the season to give players that are not playing in the playoffs something to look forward too (if their players make it that far )

maybe 1 offensive player and 1 defensive player could opt in per agent or one player per tier. It could be any of your players pickup or league.

probably dont have enough players to eliminate players but it should be okay just taking the best win/loss

I like the idea of having some other "game" on the off day that a player could jump into that actually means something.

flex pay-in pickup tourneys on the off-days would be kinda neat. could slightly automate pickup development and give players a fun interaction on the off-days.

Have it just run as many rounds as it can with people who sign up for it - but it 'locks' the pickup player where they are until the tourney gets going so it can make the different levels of pickup tourneys for players to participate in.

Have the games play out and give users the spoils of all the games afterwards.

If free pickups got free entry everyone would only do the freebies, and it would negate the other bonus side of this - that the server time used on the games is paid for by the flex buy-in. Even if it just evens out cost for the games with the buy in on average it uses up flex in users accounts and promotes more buying of flex in general on top of increasing overall user interaction. But if the games get popular and start filling up at better ratios, it could be a positive for the game in general.

Heck, if you want to make it free, make it free or reduced for 'in need' positions leading up to the tourney that would just slot into existing games anyhow. Give people a reason to test out a linemen build or less desirable positions as a pickup player.

May even get some people to start investing some boosts for fun to test out the build more fleshed out if it's against other players.

that you could be a good compromise free for in need players

I mean, that's what pickup games are already? In theory, you'd have way more than enough players to fill two "super teams", and what happens with the excess? Just run extra games with different rosters, and call them shirts and skins?

I'm not sure the game really functions well for a competitive pickup game system. It's like individual ELO in a team based game like Overwatch, where 85 percent of the time it doesn't matter what you do. How many times will receiving WRs get paired with GE's pure rushing QB and miss every catch because of it?

I could see it being slightly amusing at first, but I'm not sure of it's long term appeal.

Sorta, Pickup games right now are largely a "single player" experience. In theory if a bunch of us got together or a few with enough players. All jumping into the pickup game queue at the same time we could produce a super team like effect, could be a fun test if we get enough

Excess Players just wouldn't play in the game. maybe give them a priority to get into the next game played. Ahead of the losing players of the prior game/games.

Speaking towards pure rushing trying to throw the ball around. Thats the reason i brought up having rotating themes. I'd like to say just having it be "air raid" week would discourage people from having their 100% rushing QB to signup but it may need a hard skill check to enter as sabotage prevention, must have 50 pass power or 60 pass tech to signup. Maybe the west coast offense requires the HB to have a bit of catching or something like that.

Side effect to that is if you want your player to play in every week you would want a fairly balanced build.

I get your point of ELO in a team game and sometimes your the best player in the best spot doing everything right and you still lose. Super frustrating when it happens but on the flip sometimes you have a bad game and get 100% carried. This would be no exception to that.

Long term appeal? 8 years into the game nothing is really long term at this point go wild with whatever you want but hey if you ever get bored of NERFING CLAIRE!! it could be a neat downtime addition for awhile.

(P.S. She deserved it lol)

Maybe the teams could be set up with a theme. You can select for your player to play on a balanced team, or all run, or all pass, or 70/30 run/pass, etc...

And have a 16 team tournament on the day off, with teams of different schemes. You can select which team your player plays on....or your player will be placed on a team randomly that fits his scheme.

Think of it this way CD: how many pickup games run anyhow on the off days with people trying to keep themselves entertained? And they all happen at off hours and as people check in.

If you were able to compress that down into a set of games with team numbers being decided by how many sign up - and let in need positions slip in for less flex to fill in spots that were already going to be used in there - isn't that a lot more concise use of server time if it even gets a little traction? And if people are paying flex in for the tournament, it would serve to offset the costs to you.

It's a good way to get more interaction on the off days, and keep players checking in and testing builds, and moving flex.
