Hey y'all,

I've noticed most of the top QBs in vet rn have the Scholar SA for learning plays faster.

Has it been stated anywhere exactly what type of bonuses a QB (or any player) gets by knowing plays?

Awareness bonuses. But that depends - With high awr U lose control on target receiver on plays - which is double-edged sword.

IIRC it's not an awareness bonus, it's a stacking chem bonus, which acts like a bonus to your morale through the play and can raise morale over 100.

Corndog's comment on play knowledge:

"Pretty sure it uses the same skill modifiers as chemistry. No knowledge to gold being roughly the equivalent of 0 to 100 chemistry, but the bonus effectively scales infinitely (play knowledge doesn't actually stop being gained at gold). Scholar just gives two knowledge points instead of one whenever you see a play."

Sounds like play knowledge has a similar impact to chemistry, and we know chemistry has quite an impact. The big difference is that chemistry is universally applied to every play. Play knowledge on the other hand is dependent on the meta.

Bort also regularly introduces new plays which will dilute your play knowledge advantage.

Still, it seems pretty good for a free trait. Your QB will have an advantage against the most commonly spammed plays like the best blitzes.

So chemistry can go higher than 100? If chemistry is at 100 that just means no penalties. What does chemistry over 100 do for you?

Chemistry - 0-100
Play Knowledge - 0(nothing)-100(gold) - 100+

Chemistry modifies skills, so Knowledge increases the bonuses

Bonus morale and to awareness/tech rolls I think, hard to tell for sure though.

Why tech?

not sure, my personal belief is that high chem is just a bonus to morale that gets added on. Since each play's recognition is like 'bonus chem' I'd assume it's just more bonus morale. Tech players seem to get swayed more by morale where power players can still be somewhat relevant playing with low morale, so I tend to think tech is hit harder by morale swings both ways.

Also, jukes and cuts on a hyped up HB are better than on a HB of similar energy level who is not as hyped at the moment, so it's got to effect mobility in some way, it seems to effect quick changes of direction moreso than footwork stuff. I'm not 100% sure what all it effects outside of seeming to give everything a boost really - just being more dramatic for elusive runners and tech guys than the power types... though obviously it helps everyone.

No, zero chemistry just means no penalties.

Say what? Then everyone should get zero chemistry so they won’t have any penalties to their skills.

Everyone does have at least zero chemistry.

Wait, what? Zero chemistry = no penalties? So the more chemistry we have the more penalties come with it?

I think something is getting lost in the translation.

If I'm reading him right, 0 chem has no penalties... meaning that any chem is pure bonus.

If that's true, since we know 50 chem plays like dogwater - scholar must be the most important SA that's ever existed.
