Is it doable?

After playing around in GLB2Scout, I've got a prototype in mind, but it would need to be on a team that didn't use him as a receiver, mostly running and using him as an extra blocker in passing.

I imagine that it is doable, but imo a waste of a perfectly good S* TE.

Pure? Not a good choice.

I think he would be a great choice for a hybrid-block leaning TE. Give enough catching skills to be a threat, but pump the crap out of run block tech/power.

Don't go pure friend. The best part about having a S* is that they can do both!

Seriously doubt an all-run team would want to take the Salary Cap hit on a S* TE that's a pure Run Blocker. You can build a very effective pure Run Blocker TE without going the S* route, so why would you.

I probably would. A pancake from a TE or OT easily allows either of them to pick up a pursuing LB or S which can lead to a HB not being touched until 10+ yards down the field. Pulling G can have the same effect but usually when the HB is hit, the pursuing defender runs underneath the G.

Why not increase the likelihood that a cake occurs at such a critical spot for making those outside runs boom at a greater clip.

I agree it is stupid, I have had pure run teams and we built TE that blocked just as good as any offensive lineman we had. It is super easy to build a te that is pure run blocking just as its easy to build lineman.

Whats the point of letting TE block even once... U can switch to diamond for a run...

You can have a blocking TE for Big formations.

Positioning.

The Diamond formations don't put your blockers in the best situations on all plays and Lead Block Awareness generates some crazy pathing. You're relying on those Lead FB blockers on the Pitches (and that pathing sucks) and on the Dives, Slams, Off Tackles one of them is just a backside blocker.

Essentially on Inside runs, you're ALWAYS blocking with 6 (OLine + 1 FB) and can't get the 7th guy into the right spot. You have to hope the 7th Defender in the Box doesn't pursue the HB properly and gets involved in a bullshit away from the ball block.

It does allow for a small amount of roster/build optimization that typically isn't allowed with Offensive Formations. You can go with 2 FB that are both built to be all-run blockers and grab a non-S* TE that you build purely as a pass catcher.

So you're an all-run Diamond team that passes out of the other 2WR formations. You can make it work but it's not a world beater or everyone would be exploiting it.

And what are you going to do when they add a specific defense for diamond?

Ooh, yeah, that's a real worry, because the devs change the game so rapidly.

Since I’ve been gone, they added both trips defenses and Big I.

Diamond is just inside running formation. U can try run outside as gadget play. In diamond U can make OL less mobile and better blockers. With right RB it is perfect way to force D to stay middle to open up passing. Block wise it is just pile of meat pushing ahead and It got to be build as such. It enables U to have pure catching TE with all vast I pro playbook. Also it is best to protect QB...

I think of it as very nice trade. I ve been having 2 FB for like 15 seasons now.

https://i.imgur.com/imZuAiN.png from this season vs same tier teams ( no cpu ( current pro division is very good ))
My QB that is using long plays most of the time was sacked just 2 times this season...

Diamond is last existing exploit of this game and I dont know why no1 is using it.
