The Diamond formations don't put your blockers in the best situations on all plays and Lead Block Awareness generates some crazy pathing. You're relying on those Lead FB blockers on the Pitches (and that pathing sucks) and on the Dives, Slams, Off Tackles one of them is just a backside blocker.
Essentially on Inside runs, you're ALWAYS blocking with 6 (OLine + 1 FB) and can't get the 7th guy into the right spot. You have to hope the 7th Defender in the Box doesn't pursue the HB properly and gets involved in a bullshit away from the ball block.
It does allow for a small amount of roster/build optimization that typically isn't allowed with Offensive Formations. You can go with 2 FB that are both built to be all-run blockers and grab a non-S* TE that you build purely as a pass catcher.
So you're an all-run Diamond team that passes out of the other 2WR formations. You can make it work but it's not a world beater or everyone would be exploiting it.
Diamond is just inside running formation. U can try run outside as gadget play. In diamond U can make OL less mobile and better blockers. With right RB it is perfect way to force D to stay middle to open up passing. Block wise it is just pile of meat pushing ahead and It got to be build as such. It enables U to have pure catching TE with all vast I pro playbook. Also it is best to protect QB...
I think of it as very nice trade. I ve been having 2 FB for like 15 seasons now.

My QB that is using long plays most of the time was sacked just 2 times this season...
Diamond is last existing exploit of this game and I dont know why no1 is using it.
