Not everywhere. And there's plenty of places I've been to where masks were "mandatory" and at least a third of the people still weren't wearing them. We've actually changed where we get groceries, because one store does nothing to enforce their "mandatory" mask rule while another one does.
Wearing a mask is annoying. Watching a pandemic drag on way longer than it needs to because people refuse to wear masks is MORE annoying. And having to basically pause my life for 10 days while not being able to hug my wife and kids because my co-worker didn't want to wear a mask is downright infuriating.
All the people who told you last April that this virus is nothing and it's over hyped and overblown and you don't need masks and shutdowns and quarantines... they were wrong. Stop listening to them.
Weird neurological symptom #2: sense of smell has greatly improved, oddly enough. I've always had a lousy sense of smell back to my childhood, but that's changed dramatically over the past 24 hours. Very, very odd. Kinda hope that's permanent.

Weird neurological symptom #1: about 10 minutes of "seeing" ghostly, translucent letters and gibberish words while I was laying in the dark after waking up from a dream early this morning. That really confused me... thought I was still dreaming, realized I wasn't, and then remembered that the Rona causes weird shit like that sometimes.
Other than that, still fine for now. Bored as fuck. Throat is a bit sore... I've had worse, but it's early. No cough, no fever. A bit achy from having to sleep by myself on a craptacular spare mattress. My gut tells me it'll get worse for a day or two and then I'll be fine. Main concern is I just do not want to spread this shit to my wife and kids.
I actually caught it from my wife a couple days after Christmas as she tested positive. She also caught it from work. I was pretty sick for about 4-5 days, but my job quarantined me for 14 days because of my wife getting it so it didn't much matter.
I own a small shop and employ 6 people. Had a employee call me after work about 1 1/2 weeks ago and said I have been exposed. Turned out a room mate had it but was going to work and doing normal everyday shit because he was a nay sayer. Well before I knew it I had 3 more personnel get sick and tested positive. Masks are mandatory but I caught a few letting the mask droop. 2 of them used a wrap or neck something or other. Needless to say, it has been hell at work since we are busier than hell.
All of them complained of fever. body aches and coughing or hacking. One of my peeps has major breathing issues normally and was really concerned but he made it through.
Luckily all but one will be back Monday. Novus, stay strong!!!!!!
Still just a sore throat, which does feel a little worse than yesterday. Maaaaaaybe a little less energy, but I wouldn't call it "fatigue." No fever, no cough, no digestive issues. Sore muscles yesterday went away once I was up and moving, so that was clearly just from sleeping on this lousy spare mattress, so this morning's sore muscles are probably the same and are not from the COVID.. Sense of smell is still enhanced.
Kinda worries me that the rapid test and the sore throat confirm that I'm sick, but my body and immune system aren't acknowledging it in any way. One of COVID-19's nasty little tricks is to suppress your immune response, allowing it to grow unchecked and damage a lot of cells. And at some point your body can realize *something* is wrong but not know what it is, so it goes for the nuclear option: cytokine storm. That can land you in the ICU VERY suddenly, because your body is basically gambling that it can kill the infection before it kills itself, and that's a hard bet to win.
The vast majority of cases don't go that far. But it's not exactly rare either.

I've been reading about Covid for a year now. Figured that if I was gonna have to keep working, odds were pretty strong that I'd catch this thing at some point, so I wanted to know the possible range of outcomes.
Still don't know whether to feel confident because it's been light so far, or be nervous because the other shoe is about to drop. Both are possible and reasonable.
the big fucking clue to everyone SHOULD have been that rich/famous people were getting it and dying. best healthcare in the world wasn't saving them. some people just don't have a fighting chance. if it ends up infecting 100% of the population but 99%+ (99.x%, 99.xx%, pick your statistic) survive that's a lot of people who will die because they had never had a chance. also the whole analogy of if 1% or .1% of flights ended up in a crash, would you fly.
some people are gonna naturally select themselves out of the gene pool but they're gonna take others with them
