I was thinking I'd try to make a rankings since nobody else is doing so, but then i realized at this point it'd make more sense to wait until this round on conference play is over. That way I don't have to prognosticate tomorrow's match-up lol
s83 highly subjective team rankings from the bull's horns
week 7: The Favorites
Stillwater Hawks: after many many season's of second place, is this the season they break through and win it all? One of the most elite and consistent teams, they did what few teams have done and shut down the Generals vaunted offense. Their defense is looking like it could be the top unit this season, and the offense is as efficient as ever. Can they keep it up?
Felicus Generals: probably the most explosive offense and dominating defense in football, but can they regain the form that saw them run away with back to back titles? Last season saw them take home a tournament championship, but their League gold threepeat bid was ended early by the DOW. Can MVP Tif da Cat help them find their championship form again?
the Dogs of War: the reigning champions are looking to repeat and their defense is looking up to the task. Their elite run game is once again powering them to victory. Can they find the balance offensively that helped them win the title last season?
The Contenders
Invincibile Sporca Armata: last season's conference winners once again are a top defensive squad. Can they score enough on offense to beat the elite teams? They seemed to find that form late last season- time will tell if they can keep that form consistently.
NJ Football Mets: with one of the best passing attacks in all of football, they pose a threat at any time. Can they find that balance with the running game and their defense to play complementary football? We've seem them make runs to the title game before- can they put it back together?
SPACE HAMMER: another top ranked, high-flying offense who is looking for the consistency in the other aspects of their game to make it back to the promised land. They've raised expectations with good performances, but can they make that a habit?
Darkhorse Contenders
Hammer Time: balanced offensively and defensively, but has yet to show they can be a true force in the top tier. Can they?
Minnesota Reapers: hard team to get a read on. They have had some good wins in recent seasons and some inexplicable losses. Can they bottle the good?
Barksdale Bombers: currently on the outside of the play-off hunt looking in. Has yet to find their footing in the top tier. Can they?
Will Take a Miracle to Make the Play-offs
Berkeley Beatniks: went CPU and will suck until they get a new owner
CANTON LEATHERHEADS: went CPU and sucked long beforehand
Ellisunit "Hardcore" Trump supporter (GOP): the worst team in all of football. Ironically, I suspect they will never be heard from again after 2020
Dogs of War over SPACE HAMMER; two touchdown spread Felicus Feline Generals over Hammer Time; four touchdown spread Invincibile Sporca Armata over Minnesota Reapers; put the spread at 10 points NJ Football Mets over Ellisunit "Hardcore" Trump supporter (GOP) by enough to make you puke Stillwater Hawks over Barksdale Bombers; say a six or seven TD spread here Berkeley Beatniks tie CANTON LEATHERHEADS because who cares

week 8 Rankings:
The Favorites 1 Stillwater Hawks: Coming off a slow offensive performance, but the defense was impenetrable. 2 Felicus Generals: Hammered Hammer Time last game in a dominating win, firing on all cylinders. 3 the Dogs of War: Great passing display by the O as their D shut out the SPACE. Passing game coming around.
The Contenders 4 Invincibile Sporca Armata: Close win over the Reapers 5 NJ Football Mets: Cake walk win over the unit. 6 SPACE HAMMER: Bad showing against DOW
Darkhorse Contenders 7 Minnesota Reapers: Couldn't put points on the board and that's why they lost to Sporca 8 Hammer Time: Drops a spot in our rankings after a debacle in Cleveland at FFG 9 Barksdale Bombers: Their defense was great against Stillwater, the offense- nonexistent.
Will Take a Miracle to Make the Play-offs 10 Berkeley Beatniks: won the CPU battle, though they looked the worse team 11 CANTON LEATHERHEADS: a lot of bad play punctuated by a loss in a game they could have won 12 Ellisunit "Hardcore" Trump supporter (GOP): the worst team in all of football. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ week 8 Predictions:
Dogs of War over Berkeley Beatniks by 100 Felicus Feline Generals over CANTON LEATHERHEADS by 8-10 touchdowns Invincibile Sporca Armata over SPACE HAMMER; two touchdown spread NJ Football Mets over Minnesota Reapers 3 TD spread Barksdale Bombers over Ellisunit "Hardcore" Trump supporter (GOP) easy Stillwater Hawks over Hammer Time; say a six TD spread here
week 1-7 predictions: undefeated at 5-0 (plus a joke tie call)
Really hoping Stillwater can get over the hump this season. Would be nice to add a gold and a first place trophy. Getting real tired of the trophy case including a bunch of silver and second place tourney trophies...
I'm rooting for you guys to win the Tournament. I can't say the same for conference though, since we are in the same one this time. We have ourselves to blame for that, I suspect. If we both didn't take a shit in the Conference Finals last season, I bet we'd be in opposite conferences still and still lined up to meet in the title game.
I wouldn't fret though- we had the same 2nd place issue as you did in the previous generation of our team, which was our first team after its reincarnation, so to speak. Then we finally broke through and since then we've been more successful in terms of turning those 2nd place trophies into Gold ones. I'm sure it will be the same with you guys. Also, your silver and bronze trophies are worth way more than many gold trophies because you have always been in the toughest division and our age tier has always been full of the most competitive teams and fairly few, if any cupcakes. So many teams have gold trophies which in reality meant much less than your silvers. You can't tell by looking at the trophy, but everyone who knows what is up knows that's true.
