i didn't say you lose xp, i said you trade it. You can get back to the same place basically at the end but in the here and now you have to give up some xp to do so. Yes you get it back basically but its still affecting how you build in the meantime. Obviously at the same time the boosts are lowering your training gains, which is why some ppl don't like to do it. Honestly though i think that is mitigated to some extent by the extra SP you get early if the boosts come at a time when every extra SP can help you hit a cap faster at a time when that will make the largest difference- and of course the extra VAs, which i think makes up for it and more, so long as you are making a position where VAs are at a premium. I guess I might be off topic now, I'm not sure if this thread was asking who thinks its best to boost early for VAs and who disagrees. I do obviously but I see why others don't. Probably if I was making ST players I wouldn't do it.

Wait, huh? You are incorrect in this instance. If a player begins his 5th season at lev 52 and does not boost before the first game of the season, he will get more XP. That's cut and dried. Assuming you do all boosts at the normal time, after the 4th game of the 7th season the player will reach lev 79 and be 100 or 75 XP over, depending on if the game is played on an even or odd day. At that point the player will no longer gain XP. If the player boosts before the first game of their 5th season, they instead will have 25 or 50 extra XP when they reach lev 79 at the exact same point. Therefore, the actually do lose some XP. This XP can be traded for TP at end build. It costs 65 XP to get 2 TP, so its not much, but for what its worth they actually do lose something.

Vet points
SA points
% EQ piece
Attribute points

First get your attributes. Start with the attribute that you want to be the highest: focus on that and keep raising it by the cap, by which i mean save your SP until you have enough to get it up to the next highest cap, to maximize your training. For the most part stick with each attribute until your remaining Automatic Level Gains and training will get that to where you want it without having to spend any more SP on it; then go on to the next attribute. Meanwhile you should be quad multi-training most of your first 4 seasons and then you will need to switch to light train if you want 4 AEQ. Get EQ in % piece for the most part. You will get VA points just spend them right! Once again the premium is mainly on the % skills, though I also like the VAs for tackle or catch or block attribute as that 7.5% can be a huge cost saver instead of having to spend more SP on those attributes. Wait until you are at least like lev 60 before you start spending SP on SAs- but don't be shy about it. Spending over 100 SP on SAs is fine if you are getting 9 and 10s or better in the right places. Just wait until your last couple seasons to buy them! If you spend all that SP on SA early in the build, you will never be able to get your attributes as good, and all the SA in the world won'y help if the attributes are lacking. There's a whole lot of different ways to do it, but if you more or less just follow that basic guideline, you will be able to get the best 'bang for your buck'

Assuming you do all boosts at the normal time, after the 4th game of the 7th season the player will reach lev 79 and be 150 or 175 XP over, depending on if the game is played on an even or odd day. At that point the player will no longer gain XP. If the player boosts before the first game of their 5th season, they instead will have 25 or 50 extra XP when they reach lev 79 at the exact same point. players stop earning XP in their final season at level 73 if they have not missed any boosts, then boost 3 more times on day -8 rolling over into the next season, and 3 more on day 1 of the next season to 79

or if they have skipped 3 boosts, they stop earning at level 70 (or even 67 if they haven't boosted yet in that 7th season)

you have to boost 30 times to get to level 79 - so once you have hit the level where you have to boost the rest of the way to get to level 79, you are done earning XP

given that you earn XP in this manner, once you are in that 7th season, use the player builder to see what days it is best to boost to maximize leftover XP

if you are going from level 66 to 67 for your last level up, you could end with 225 extra XP

if you are over level 69 when that happens, the most extra you could have is 100 extra XP

XP Breakdown

Training XP

Level 1-40
50 XP daily for training

Level 41+
25 XP daily for training

Game XP

Level 1-15
625 Max Game XP

Level 16-31
500 Max Game XP

Level 32-52
375 Max Game XP

Level 53-68
250 Max Game XP

Level 69+
125 Max Game XP

Somehow my shorthand math was including 2 days of training after reaching lev 73. Of course i should have noticed this error right away as you said its not possible to have more remainder xp than the dot gets in its last game. So its only like 50 xp difference in the end which is hardly worth anything. If I'm not mistaken it will give enough xp to exchange for one extra train (2 TP) however, as finishing with less than 65 xp only gives 2 BT in exchange.

yeah - I just calculate it at the start of the 7th season to figure out when to boost to get some leftover XP for each player - other than that I let Vet Point acquisition and hitting the caps dictate when I boost

That probably makes the most sense. It hurts my head to try to calculate it from before that. VA points and hitting caps has to take precedent anyhow over a measly bit of extra xp. I only really consider it if i think the extra light train at the end will be important for the 6 BT. Even then, I usually probably calculate it wrong anyhow.

to try to actually answer the OP instead of being caught up on some minute trivial point (sorry) the best bang for your buck is to plan your build ahead of time and be patient for 7 seasons (more than a year) to see the full results- otherwise you are constantly retiring and that doesn't seem like the best bang for the (literal) buck. The good news is, if you are building right, your dot will most likely be effective during the growing seasons in addition to being the best possible at end build. Rookie season they might have some disadvantage against the impatient builders, but those agents' dots will soon fall by the wayside
