How far can a team without any superstar players make it and do well? Has anybody that knows what they’re doing ever tried this before?

perfect example, they won their division and their one of the few teams that dont block scrimmage invites and the bengals love having them as a rival in another conference. hes beat us, weve beat them. tough teamn right there

Yeah, being able to put the entire team (or nearly) on High contracts is a powerful counter to S* players.

The Sooners had 2 top 3 ladder finishes and a 1st and 2nd place league finish in Rookie/Soph back in season 42/43

Shouldn't be too hard. My Old Team Clean up crew made it to Tinsel League finals when it was in rookie. It was a tough league too with no CPU at the time. We didn't even have half our roster filled. I just gave everyone a high contract and laughed as my 6'6 WRs caught everything despite defenders being all over them. I would've won too if I made a couple field goals. I have no clue what it dose but Chemistry is seriously no joke. On an earlier team I had we accidentally cut our amazing TE and when he came back on with 0 chem he was suddenly garbage and couldn't catch anything.

non stars aren’t bad you just have to be real specific about what role you want them to play and build him strictly for that role.
can be either open ended or very clear cut, but that’s not something many people have really come to realize

you can build a good team without them-- the biggest edge is at HB
Other than HB, each star gives a marginal advantage-- and those marginal advantages add up, especially at Vet.
Some of them compound, like QB+WR/TE, or DE+DT or OLB+OLB
I've built some fairly good defenses without stars, it allows a bigger roster and greater tactical flexibility.
