I probably know the answer but going to ask anyways.
I shopped and got a +1 strength/+5 make tackle chance,
Can you upgrade the +1 strength to a +3 after buying it.
My belief is no you can't but asking anyways

you are correct, you can't. Sucks you can't buy an increase, but I guess everyone would have maxed out equipment.

Thanks for the short get to the point direct answer, now all I have to do is wait for theo wizzago and nvus to pipe in with their 1-2 paragraph answers telling us why what or how it can't be done.

No you can't. No paragraphs needed.

Theo will make a very long, yet compelling argument about how the BTs you save by getting this piece will allow you to train better for longer making up the difference.

Which in theory could be true, depending on luck in the store and how early you get started on the extra training, training mod %s, and a few other factors.

I know nothing of AEQ, but is the +1 strength/+3 strength equipment the only difference end build would be +2 strength?

probably...

there is an urban legend...

Your options are to buy this piece for say 19 BTs.
or
You can keep rolling. Say in 3 more rolls (9 BTs) you got the 5% piece you wanted, but with no +1 attribute. That means you could spend 50BTs to get that +3. The opportunity cost would be 40 BTs.

Now, the difference between 4-way training (12BTs every 4 days = 3 BTs/day) and Intense training (+2 BTs) is basically 1 BT.

Could you make up that +2 difference in attribute, by changing your training regimen? In this case 40 days of Intense, vs 4-way.

Murky, this gets...

If your attribute is at 90, and you have the 20% enhancement on it, Intense training will get you 6% per day times the 40 days is like 2.4 attribute points.

Multi training, would get you 8% every 4 days, so 8% times 10 training sessions (in 40 days) = is about 0.8 attribute points.

So in theory, you could make up the difference in the chosen attribute, at the loss of 2.4 attribute points to your other 4-way training set up attributes.

That's just one of an infinite number of possibilities. If you got lucky and hit the ultimate +3, 5% piece on the very next roll, then all of that is a moot point.

If you got unlucky and didn't hit on anything better, wasted a bunch of BTs rolling, and ended up building something anyway, then obviously you should have taken the lesser bonus and run.

Where you're attributes are at and what your training modifiers are in another set of variables....

Personally I think that's all a bunch of crap.

The best build advice I ever got was to stay out of the store, unless you're a QB. It's not worth F'ng up 2 real life years worth of build on bad luck. Just plan on building exactly what you want.

Yeah I can't imagine if I had the patience for building long-term I'd ever hit the store, just seems illogical to math everything out so much and then rely completely on RNG for a build-defining equipment.

That's pretty much where I end up with this every time...I mean, 4 fully upgraded AEQ pieces are 1,200 BT just to level up, and I'm going to spend a bunch of time worrying about how to potentially save 30 BT by ending up accepting some pieces I didn't really want anyway?

*runs away from thread before everyone explains how wrong I am*

Yes you got a point there tj, I could train longer but imo I would keep multi-training instead of changing it to intense training and trying to make it up on the 1 attr.

Actually taking it might just be a good option for my dot even if I take it and just sit on it for the time being. If I take it and never use it I would only be out the 20bt's the pc costs in the store. If I take it and build it it will only cost me 320 bt's to build the pc saving me 105 bt's if i built it from scratch.

Also this would be my 2nd pc as the first pc after shopping 1 time I hit on a +5 make tackle that I am currently building that will only cost 369 total bt's to build to a +3str/+5make tackle.

So far I shopped 4 times at 3bt's each costing 12 bt's with the 1 I have already and this one in question it will only cost me 698 bt's for the 2 pcs saving me 152 bt's if I did build them out right. 152bt's is quite a bit of extra multi-training when you look at it that way.

Taking it even further now if I would hit on another decent +3attr or +5% pc rather quickly I could possibly multi-train the dot close to the life of build it like you can only making a 3aeq dot but possibly still have 4 pcs of aeq

To build 4 fully upgraded pcs with +3attr/+5% pc it would cost you 1700 bt's if you build them out right.
You could concievably save some by using a sa pc in the aeq instead of a % pc
