And I've legit never made a sports wager in my life but I'm certain that when the underdog wins it is not called "covering."

That term is reserved when a team who was up against a point spread "covered" the spread.

With 0:01 left in the game, yes. Take the knee, end the game, seal the win. No need to tack on extra points there, especially if that happens in a game where we're only up by 4 or something and don't want to risk a crazy fumble return for a TD.

What I'm confused about is why that happened after the 3rd down play started with 0:38 left on the clock. We took a knee on that play too, and the clock should've been able to run down to 0:00 without needing to take another snap. Based on prior experience, I know for a fact that you can run off up to 0:47 between snaps, so the kneel play on 3rd down should've been the last play of the game.

Ah well. It is what it is.
