it doesn't

Tell it to bort, he is the one that released that tie bit.

I'm gonna have to agree with this but use a different 'dot' to explain why. Unless there are exceptions to the rule... which Bort would've had to say as much when asked about this, I can't see the SA tree as a progression from 1st SA to last SA. That would make the Kicker's SA tree not make any sense, IMO.
Calm Nerves / Big Boot / Automatic. The first SA is all about increasing Accuracy. Big Boot is all about kicking the ball farther and even states it has nothing to do with accuracy. Finally, Automatic, while also addressing Accuracy, only works once the 1st FG is made and only continues to work until the next FG is missed... so it's based on actual performance and not an actual skill.
So, in reality each SA bonus is independent of the other (IMO) and would fire according to which one is getting triggered by in-game situations (again, IMO.) I base that on the fact that Big Boot can effect FG's AND Kickoffs... while Automatic only effects FG tries... as well as Calm Nerves also. So when you're kicking off, ONLY Big Boot can fire. At least that's the way I read them.

Previously, you had written that a Powerback has a chance at a Power Thru roll, and if that fails, he may still get a Lower the Shoulder roll (or perhaps even a Stiff Arm roll).

Is there a similar process for fakes? A Juke attempted, followed by a Head Fake attempt? Can you clarify the rolling process between a ball carrier and a potential tackler in the open field?

Yes, he will try the Juke roll, and if failed a Head Fake roll can happen as well.

Once a tackler reaches a fakeable distance, the options open up for a fake to happen each tick.

Almost. He's not a dummy. Probably misinterpreted the progression, or saw something contradictory.

There's a lot of that out there too.

He made a full team of horrible 2 AEQ dots. No one with any signs of intelligence would do that
