Whats considered shut down? Less than 50% completion ...... 40%

I would say deflection is huge and I would have to agree with heavy hitting as well.... Im not sure what the record is for INT out of the SS Spot but those always seems like a bonus!!!

I have a S* SS on my Gators that I helped the user build to stop TEs. He's built with heavy intercepting, so keep an eye on Derwin James to see a good S* test. It's our rookie season sooo we'll see how it turns out

High deflection can get you 50% or less in my experience. I ran with 85+ deflect with OAI to get that result.

I imagine a HH can help too, but it will be hard to get high deflect with all that power and not cut back on other skills, but you can try some PUP to see.

I know it is a long shot but once I made cover2 def. TE was covered by OLB that was built like corner. Cover2 did helped on deep shots. There wasn't many INTS but completion rate was below 40. By pure numbers that was simple the best option againts pass attack. Not so much vs inside run but U could adjust with builds. Also all attacks are built to counter cover1 way with covering SS. Just try sth else

On our last run I tried high physicals with some intimidation. It worked alright but I don't think there is a way to shut down the TE without a double team. SSs seem to be off balance and turned the wrong way so physicals seem to help quite a bit. The TE generally goes straight and the SS go straight to meet the TE. The TE then cuts and the SS must stop and turn then he's already toast. I think high sprinting really hurts. I like to go with high quickness, footwork, and balance with some vertical with sure-footed. High power tackling can help when they go over the top.

I do like FW a lot but i am trying to find the sweet spot and sometimes the TE still flies by the SS

Tall, moderate deflecting, heavy-hitting, high balance, high quickness, moderate footwork and of course surefooted.

imo.

Build the SS to stop other stuff really well.

A good S* TE build is going to dominate any S* SS build you come up with. There's a reason why Durnik is the all-time Receiving Leader; and did it easily.

My current S* TE Hettar dominates (60% catch rate) and he's a combo build with some decent SP spent on Blocking.

The best way to stop the TE is to have the QB throw to someone else. Which means your LO needs to protect the inside of the route long enough for the QB to peel off.

Stop the targets and you stop a Rec TE. But you do it with play calling more than SS builds.

How much sense does it make to put EYES ON THE PRIZE and ZONE SHARK on a Strong Safety build? I'm unsure what abilities to put on my SS in a exclusive zone scheme.

Depends on the play calling. He would have to be in underneath zone coverage. If you're going to run a lot of cover 3 tiger out of the 3-4, then those would be good.
