We’re taking things a little dark here with your greatest L. The one that really hit home. Can be any game, but give us a little history. To kick us off:
First of all, I’d like to give a shoutout to all the fallen homies. Been here from the begging, really got into it around season 5-6 (GLB original was never much my speed so I made the full jump) and had some great times. Air Raid & Ground Assault were probably my biggest headaches (I only gave them fights towards the end of their lifetimes unfortunately, they kicked my ass plenty when we were upstarts), but back then there was a ridiculous amount of competition so my rival count was pretty high.

Ahh, this season was the beginning of the end for my once great passing team. Air Raid who? We didn’t need screens to ball out (until we later “combined” with Air Raid and ended up using screens heavily lol) and we sure didn’t have to worry about defense!!
Lies, our defense was beginning to crumble. I had always been able to create lockdown CBs in this game (whether it be myself of through the build plans of back in the day) but safety integration was poor for me. Don’t get me started on the rest of my defense. I was NOT a capable builder, let me tell you that much. Balanced offenses were still a rarity (which Deadman went on to transition to which lead to many playoff heartbreaks across the organization) so single minded defenses was my thing. Front 7 run, back half pass. Jesus Christ that did not work well as we moved up and on to Vet.
This game right here? Hit me. Teams we used to blow out by multiple (and I mean MULTIPLE) TDs started to give us pressure. League/team/main forums were hot, full coaching staffs were scrambling to take the new throne as the original powers began to lose wind to us upstarts. Then it dawned on me, we weren’t the upstarts anymore. We were the old powers. High ladder rankings turned to duking it out for top 10 (for all you newer people out there, imagine about 80-100 user teams you’re trying to hang tough with in vet. you didn’t reset, you recruited. unfortunately now that position is useless, but player movement was real) every season.
And it all began with this game. Honestly hard to believe I was a relevant guy. Now you young guns run me in circles religiously. I’ll be back with more bite next season though
