Your dot will be at a huge disadvantage his entire career if he doesn't boost every season and buy and upgrade his custom equipment throughout.
If you are wanting to play a discounted version of the game the ONLY acceptable place where you can actually be competitive without boosting is in peewee.

Yes, worth it, especially if you're already spending Flex/money on boosting anyway. Trying to save Flex by skipping CEQ is like trying to save money by switching to single-ply toilet paper... you won't save enough money to make a difference, but you'll definitely notice the results.

Sometimes when Im not sure about the long term future of a team I might rent CEQ for a season.....
