I can’t seem to get my punter tactics to distance. It will let me type in 1-100 for hang time, but what do I type in for distance. It won’t allow -100

It probably wants you to change your avatar first before it allows you to change it.

It's an 'either or' setting. You can either choose Max Hangtime (+100) OR Max Distance (-100). If you leave it in the middle ( +/- 0) then you get half of each. I'm guessing this is the Punter you're referencing; http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4745791 At that level, he should likely be set for Max Distance (if your ST's are of very good quality)... OR Max Hangtime (if your ST's are allowing too many good returns).

I am guessing you are on an iPad or iPhone... it works if you highlight the current value and then type -100 to replace it.

Yep. I have issues with all of the sliders on my phone.
