Just so no one beats me to it - there are arse holes in this world after all. I really hope site ownership comes up with something for the users (a free player or two would be a grand gesture). Looking forward to another round with you all to try to keep the league active (you know, minus the weekends as that won't be changing anytime soon).

Tomorrow the leagues should be set so I'll have something to start putting pen to paper with. Until then enjoy a few days off and enjoy the weather (you know it's crappy on the drive in when the weather guys busts out the "high between 101-103 but will feel like 107...get bent butt hole!!!!).

All kidding aside. Venge was a fun part of this league and despite his occasional mis-directed rants, he was fun to have around and I miss competing against his teams. You always knew they would be a tough matchup and there was a sense of accomplishment when you could beat his teams. Of course it always stung a little more when you lost to them too.

All very true, league was great fun in it's heyday but it's good to see at least a few of the old faces hanging around. This is the first season for a long time that i've had any part of running a team here and next season my KR/PR will be here.....we're also looking to resurrect Bier Markt at some point in the near future .

I did have the privelage of beating him once , I was more of a cas rookie back then though so at that time it did feel good.

The dude was a mess in the forums, but to be truthful in PM's he was a pretty good dude.

Here we are - in historic season 75. Casual Pro is still chugging along just fine as dotball participation seems a bit low but we survive. We've got four new teams up with (as is the case each season) and I'll take my crack at the way to early season predictions:

WESTERN CONFERENCE

1. Running Gag
Last Season: 14-2
Playoffs: 2-1
Roster: All 55 dots coming back.

Gag is coming off a 14-2 season and lost both championship games (GLB Tourney and the Title game). No shame in that but a missed PAT hurt them in the title game and that has this team raring to get out the chutes this season. This isn't a team that loses much so when you get one in the regular season just chalk it up as your personal casual title (that's what I rolled with last season). Gag's offensive attack is much different than in seasons past but combined with a suffocating D it's worked out well for them.

Player to Watch: RB Ankara Türkei. Türkei was a handful for teams coming out of the backfield. The dot only had four yards on three carries but more than made up for it catching the ball. The dot had 171 catches (1st in league) for 1,364 yards (3rd in league) with 10 TD's.

Noteable Note: This past season was the first time since season 65 where Gag lost two regular season game in one season. Hint hint hint, they don't lose very often.

2. Not Fast, Just Furious
Last Season: 13-3
Playoffs: 0-1
Roster: 54 returning dots.

We may have caught a few teams last season and got a couple of wins over the power five teams but I don't think we'll be sneaking up on anyone this season. I don't go nuts on telling you how good my team is. We're looking for a little redemption after struggling down the home stretch and hopefully we'll be able to solve some of our second half issues.

Player to Watch: WR Mack Bridges. In a pass offense Bridges came through leading the league in yards and TD catches with 1,911.5 yards and 26 TD's. The dot only hadd 81 catches but led the league in yards per catch at 23.6 and his season long endorsement will no doubt aid the dot throughout the upcoming season.

Noteable Note: As a team, we did not have a rushing TD on the season.

3. San Dimas Saints
Last Season: 16-0
Playoffs: 3-0 (RPCE #1 Champions)
Roster: 52 returning dots

I'll keep it real on the teams coming from RPCE - we just won't know what we have until they roll against the big boys up here. Not much competition in the lower leagues and those of us in pro try to raise the bar. We'll see if the Saints are up to the challenge. Giving them a high expectation as a few new teams are no doubt going to play well and make the playoffs.

Player to Watch: QB Eric McCormick. The dot rushed for 2,788 yards (174.3 ypg) while scoring 64 rushing TD's. With a run dominate team he'll be asked to shoulder the load.

Noteable Note: Come into Casual Pro with a 48 game winning streak.

4. LG Canucks:
Last Season: 5-10-1
Playoffs: 0-1
Roster: 45 returning dots

LG made the playoffs with just five wins but they'll need to do better this season to get in. They do have some roster turnover from last season but they have a solid core offense and the best defensive playmaker in the league. Recruiting is nearly non-existent in the forums so hopefully they can get the roster filled out and be ready to roll on day one.

Player to Watch: CB Magic !!. Magic was a breath of fresh air for the Canucks D. The CB led the league in picks with 20 (oddly with only five int. yards) helping LG lead the league in interceptions with 46 overall. The dot was all over the place getting 50 tackles, 30 PD's, 4.5 sacks and only allowing 46% of balls thrown his way to be caught.

Noteable Note: One of two rookie teams to make the playoffs from the west.

5. Chile Chupacabras
Last Season: 8-7-1
Playoffs: 1-1
Roster: 37 returning dots

Chile has lost some dots from this past season including RB KoB's Willie Burden who was a brute rushing for over 1,500 yards and 14 TD's. There's plenty of time to bring in some recruits but it's tough sledding out there and you may not always bring in a top dot when replacing some. I've got them missing the playoffs based on what the roster is right now and what they need to bring in.

Player to Watch: QB Saul Garza. There was no bones about what Garza was going to do for this offense. The dot led the league in rushing with 2,345.5 yards (the only 2,000+ rusher), fifth in rushing TD's (23) and was also fifth in breaking tackles at 148.

Noteable Note: Chile did not throw for a TD on the season and only put the ball in the air 16 times for .5 yards.

6. Alabama Yellowhammers
Last Season: 14-2
Playoffs: 2-1 (RPCE #1)
Roster: 41 returning dots

Have a little work to do on the roster and I do have to peg them at the bottom of the conference currently based on that. They have key pieces from their team returning so depending how they sit roster wise could easily rise from this early prediction.

Player to Watch: QB Gus Frerotte. Gus threw for 114 TD's last season while throwing for 6,611 yards. The dot will need to play well for the Yellowhammers to have success at the pro level.

Noteable Note: After playing the Saints to a 10 point loss in the regular season they were routed in the title game (89-17).

EASTERN CONFERENCE

1. Sofia Spiders

Last Season: 12-4
Playoffs: 3-0 (Casual Pro Champions)
Roster: All 55 dots coming back.

The Spiders started slowly last season getting out to a 1-3 record. They righted the ship and after a 59-24 loss to NFJF they reeled off nine straight to include the 24-23 title win over the Gag. They got hot at the right time, got a little GLB luck a time or two, and closed games with some incredible 4th quarter performances. The team also got bronze in the tourney to wrap up a fine season. The Spiders have won Casual Pro gold in seasons 66, 69, 71 and 74 - does season 75 hold something special for this team returning their entire championship roster - we'll see shortly.

Player to Watch: QB Boozy Patton Jr.. BPJ led the league in yards with 10,465 and TD's with 108. The dot was good but has a full season endorsement which will make him that much better. A championship QB with some season's still left to play.

Noteable Note: The Spiders received four full season endorsements out of the possible eight (two went to players no longer in CP - GG GLB).

2. Charlestown Chiefs

Last Season: 15-1 (Casual Tourney Champions)
Playoffs: 1-1
Roster: 0 (back to 55 in short order)

The Chiefs frankly looked like the best team throughout the season last year. They were dominate at times and won close games against their fellow conference teams. They met a hot Sofia team in the playoffs to cut what could have been a champ champ type of season as they won the tourney championship and no doubt they would have traded that for another shot at Gag in the title game. I suspect the roster snafu will be sorted in the next few days and the best team on paper will be returning in full.

Player to Watch: RB Roderick Aiken. While it's a two headed monster at the RB spot for the Chiefs it's Aiken who's slightly ahead. Aiken was second in the league in rushing at 1,757 yards and scored 25 rushing TD's (2nd in league), The dot was only one of five dots to average over 100 ypg (109.8) while averaging 7.0 per touch.

Noteable Note: We can't let sunder b live down not resigning the entry roster.

3. Magua's Revenge

Last Season: 12-4
Playoffs: 0-1
Roster: 54 dots returning

In a dog eat dog conference the Revenge can be number one through three. They really need to get over the hump and win some of the close games they lost last season. They return their roster and look to turn their fortune around from last season - namely beating Spiders/Chiefs when it counts. Getting the number one seed in this conference is just huge.

Player to Watch: QB Ghost Of Bumppo. Bumppo plays second fiddle to a strong running game but the dot will need to make the plays against the big boys to elevate this team from the three spot in the conference.

Noteable Note: In four of their five losses last season they lost by an average of 5.25/game.

4. Vancouver Gorillas

Last Season: 6-10
Playoffs: 0-1
Roster: 49 dots returning

The Gorillas made the playoffs on beating who they should beat. They'll need to get a win or two over some of the upper power teams to do more than make the playoffs and get the early exit on a blowout loss. Riley is an experience owner in Casual Pro so keep an eye out on what Vancouver can do this year.

Player to Watch:

Noteable Note: After starting 1-6 the Gorillas fought their way back into the playoffs with a 5-1 stretch run.

5. Las Vegas Chaos
Last Season: 12-4
Playoffs: 1-1 (RPCE #1)
Roster: 54 returning dots

The rooks may have just landed in one of the tougher casual pro conferences in recent memory. Having the big three is a nightmare but there is a shot to crack that shield once they get boosted up. Like many of the new teams we'll need to see how they look once the dots are at 79. Until then, I give the nod to the veteran Gorilla team for the playoffs over the Chaos.

Player to Watch: QB Brady Gun. Gun threw for 8,562.5 yards and 124 TD's last season. The dot will need to shine for this team to make the cut into the playoffs in a very tough conference.

Noteable Note: The team is set to pass and a continuing trend in the pros with a pass first mind set.

6. Juarez Jalapeños
Last Season: 13-3
Playoffs: 1-1
Roster: 35 returning dots.

I'm not one to spout off on what a team should do but considering the team is 20 dots short and has a few dots over 480 days it may be best for this team to look to swap with a team in regional pro. It will be a long long long season for this team.

Player to Watch: RB Church Boy. This dots did it all last season cracking over 1,000 yards in both receiving and rushing.

Noteable Note: A league swap would be better than getting crushed weekly...just my humble opinion.
