I know some players got a clue about zone defense but I cant find any reference how to build good defenders for zone. How Aikashi get his builds? What was ur thinking when creating zone defenders? What had U in mind?

I can tell you a little of GE's old style..

His old teams focused on hitting power to knock loose passes and FF. He didn't like Zone Shark and focused on EOTP. He preferred a S*MLB and S*FS to cover most of the field, both were high in sprint... CB's were run stuffers and his SS is a hard hitter meant to attack power running backs. He also had some dedicated pass rushing LBs. D-Line were pass rushers.

Basic skills for all non D-Line:

Max Zone Awr
Max Tackle
Max Pursuit
High Quick
High Footwork
No Cov Tech
Spd varied per position, some were very fast and others more or less just stayed in their area so they had low speed.

Isn't Rob running zone this time and doing well with it? He might have some input on this too if so.

Rob has run a successful zone defense a couple of times I believe.

What about for those using Cover Expert? With it activating if "4 yards or further", couldn't some positions potentially really benefit?

Zone doesn't use Cov. Tech, which is why points there are wasted... look at the dots, most have no Targets and no Rec Allowed. Without a Target, I don't see how the SA would fire, IMO.

Cov. Tech doesn't work with zone coverage? Shouldn't that be defined in the skill description...

I think they’re saying it’s fired from an. Worthless skill for zone defenders(cover tech?)

I think cover expert would be worth a look in zone coverage. Got to close the gap between receiver and where the defender is at quickly once the ball is being thrown. It is possibly a very helpful SA for zone defenders IMO.

Needs to be tested though as theoretical good does not equal glb2 good.

But is cov. tech useful in zone defense?

I personally do not believe cov. tech is all that useful in man defense either to be honest. Until receivers are able to head fake and burn down the field creating enough separation to regularly get long gains, it will continue to be a limited skill. Sometimes a receiver will head fake and the brief pause by the DB is actually helpful for the defender as it puts him in a trailing position and in position to get a PD or failed CIT roll for the receiver as opposed to running to far past the receiver and not getting back to where the receiver stopped in time to be involved in the play.

Test Cover Expert ins some scrims with Zone... but I'm pretty positive its not gonna work since you need a target for it to fire.
